Be Not Deceived Part 2

James, Peter, John and Jude warn Jewish believers:

James 1:26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.
2 Peter 3:1-5 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance: That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation. For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
1 John 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
1 John 3:7 Little children, let no man deceive you: he that doeth righteousness is righteous, even as he is righteous.
2 John 1:7 For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Jude 4 For there are certain men crept in unawares, who were before of old ordained to this condemnation, ungodly men, turning the grace of our God into lasciviousness, and denying the only Lord God, and our Lord Jesus Christ.
And John continues to write about the deceiver during the 1000 years of the Lord Jesus rule on Earth:
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 13:14 And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live.
Revelation 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Revelation 20:3 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.
Revelation 20:8 And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

Beloved Part 3

James writes to believing Jews.
James 1:16 Do not err, my beloved brethren.
James 1:19 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath:
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
Peter also uses the term when writing to believing Jews.
1 Peter 2:11 Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
1 Peter 4:12 Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you:
2 Peter 1:17 For he received from God the Father honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
2 Peter 3:1 This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.
2 Peter 3:14-15 Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless. And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you;
2 Peter 3:17 Ye therefore, beloved, seeing ye know these things before, beware lest ye also, being led away with the error of the wicked, fall from your own stedfastness.

National Day

There are over 1500 National Days, Weeks and Months in the USA.
Many of them are laughable.
Just get on the internet and search National “…. “ to find them.
Here are just three of them:

August 11th, National Sons and daughters Day. First celebrated in 1944.

Fourth Sunday in July, National Parents Day.  First celebrated in 1994.

First Sunday after Labor Day in September, National Grandparents Day an official holiday in 1988.

These are really not necessary. God has already given us instructions on how we should treat our Children (Sons and Daughters), our Parents, and our Grandparents. There are too many verses to list them here. But start with the 5th commandment. Read Ephesians 6 for starters. Psalm and Proverbs also contain many great verses of instruction. We don’t need our government to tell us how to honor our family members.

Oh Yes, Happy National Day …

Jewish Epistles

James, Peter 1-2, John 1-2-3, Jude

What do they say about The Cross? The Death? The Burial? The Resurrection?
The Return of Christ? The coming Kingdom?
The Gospel of Salvation is in 1 Corinthians 15:1-4!
The way of Salvation is in Romans 10:9-13!

NO CROSS, Not mentioned in the Jewish Epistles

DEATH (of Christ) Only found in 1 Peter!
1 Peter 3:18 For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit:

NO BURIAL, Not mentioned in the Jewish Epistles

RESURRECTION (of Christ) Only found in 1 Peter!
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ

SALVATION (Suggest that it is based on Faith AND works – obedience to the LAW)
James 1:21 Wherefore lay apart all filthiness and superfluity of naughtiness, and receive with meekness the engrafted word, which is able to save your souls.
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
James 4:12 There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?
James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.
1 Peter 4:18 And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
The following do say that the Lord Jeus Christ is the Saviour:
2 Peter 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Saviour Jesus Christ:
2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning.
2 Peter 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:
2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.
1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.
Jude 1:25 To the only wise God our Saviour, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.

KING, KINGDOM (Only mentioned twice)
James 2:5 Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love him?
2 Peter 1:11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I would suggest that these epistles were written for the Jew AND WILL NO DOUBT BE USED BY THE 144,000 during the Tribulation.
Paul’s epistle to the Hebrews will also play a great part during the Tribulation and it references:
The Cross, The Death, The Burial, The Resurrection, The Return of Christ and The Coming Kingdom.

Wine Abstinence

Image result for did jesus drink wine

Proverbs 20:1 Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging;
whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise.

Proverbs 23:31 Look not thou upon the Wine when it is red, when it giveth
Its color in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

Abstinence is Biblical
Titus 2:3The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good tidings”.
The phrase, “not given to much wine” has opened the door for many people to wonder the impact of the passage. “The union of the two negatives suggest the close connection between a loose tongue and intoxicating drink.” TITUS by D. Edmund Hiebert. “Both were real possibilities for women whose families were grown and who may have had too much idle time on their hands {cf 1 John 5:13-14}.” TITUS by A. Duane Litfin. It’s well documented that the custom of the day allowed people to mix water with wine to purify the poor water. Never does the Holy Word of God promote drinking intoxication wine or drink or for Christians to get drunk. There is a debate over using wine as a prescription for medical problems as a remedy only. The Scripture suggest Paul directed such for Timothy. The Thompson Chain-Reference Bible notes point out several versus that direct abstinence {see number 3568 under Temperance.} Wine and strong were never used by the Lord Jesus Christ. Always new wine {diluted grape juice} was used by Christian Churches since founded by Jesus Christ.
The use of wine or alcohol is not recommended for cooking. With the flesh so powerful a person could loose their testimony.* Suggest not drinking any intoxicating drink as the Bible doesn’t promote it. There are ten times more verses that warn against drinking than do allow it for the aged. The first reference to alcohol – Noah getting drunk paint the ruins of strong drink.
(The above from Pastor Tim Jackson, Community Baptist Church, Lansing, Michigan. 1999)
Further study of drinking in the Bible always shows that SIN follows the drinking and drunkenness.
*Many Catholic Priests have become alcoholics by drinking the wine taken during the Communion.
Total Abstinence was/is recommended for:
Priests Lev 10:9
Nazarites Num 6:3
Wise men Prov 23:31
Kings Prov 31:4
Rechabites Jer 35:6
Daniel Dan 1:8
John the Baptist Luk 1:15
Christians Rom 14:21

Cradle to Cross

Thoughts on Christmas
The problem with Christmas is the concentration on the celebration,
rather than on the reason for the celebration.
Will there be a Christmas after the Rapture occurs?
Christmas … carried away with the babe in the manger
Easter … hung up with the man on the cross

Let’s consider the life of the Lord Jesus …
The greatest of all teachers … He fulfilled the will of God
Matthew 7:28-29 And it came to pass, when Jesus had ended these sayings, the people were astonished at his doctrine: For he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes.
Let’s just consider what he did and said … (Just looking into John)
John 4:34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
John 5:36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
John 9:4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
John 10:25 Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father’s name, they bear witness of me.
John 10:37-38 If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not. But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.
John 11:45 Then many of the Jews which came to Mary, and had seen the things which Jesus did, believed on him.
John 15:24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.

Had Christ Not Come

2 Corinthians 9:15 Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.

Had Christ not come that Christmas Eve
Himself with men to dwell
All would e lost, no hope – no light
He darkness to dispel.
No Saviour and no sacrifice
To pay the price of sin,
No precious blood to cleanse my heart
And keep me pure within,

No righteousness except my own –
No pardon I could claim,
No avenue of prayer to God
Through Jesus’ Mighty Name!
No comfort in my deepest need
No lamp to light my way,
No One to understand and care
To keep me day by day.

No hope, no peace, no Advocate
To intercede for me,
And what of Satan’s subtle snares –
Would I have victory?
No grace of God, no mercy shown
No love to warm my soul,
No Heaven, no crown, no Christ to meet,
No purpose and no goal.

O world of misery and woe
What deep and dark despair –
Had God not sent His Only Son
Our sin and shame to bear.
But Christ HAS come – O Glorious Day,
That Babe in swaddling dress
Grew up to be my Saviour Lord,
My Hope and Righteousness!
