Come into the Ark

What Does Genesis 7:1 Mean?

Noah was invited into the ark.

Genesis 6-9 God was inside the Ark when He invited Noah to come into the Ark. God is with every believer. God still invites us today. Not into the Ark, but into his family and then into Heaven when we die. And it’s thru His Son, the Lord Jesus. By believing the Gospel (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and confessing that He is God (Romans 10:9).

In Noah’s time, anyone could have gotten into the Ark, and been saved from the flood. Just as in Noah’s time, God, the Lord Jesus Christ, is in Heaven, inviting all who will come. Today there is room at the Cross (salvation) for all who will come. AS the song says:

The Gainsaying of Core (Korah)

Jude 1:1 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

GAINSAY – to deny, dispute or contradict

The story of Korah (Core) is found in Numbers 16:1-33 … And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? …

⇒ He led a rebellion against Moses
⇒ He didn’t believe God
⇒ He rebelled against God
⇒ He provoked the Lord

Korah desired leadership. He wanted to be in charge, despite what God had said. He and his followers perished at the hand of the Lord. Numbers 16:32-33 And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation.

Their punishment is repeated in Numbers 26:9-10 And the sons of Eliab; Nemuel, and Dathan, and Abiram. This is that Dathan and Abiram, which were famous in the congregation, who strove against Moses and against Aaron in the company of Korah, when they strove against the LORD: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up together with Korah, when that company died, what time the fire devoured two hundred and fifty men: and they became a sign.

Thus ended the gainsayings of Core (Korah).

The Way of Cain

PPT - Mistakes Of Cain PowerPoint Presentation, free download - ID ...

Jude 1:1 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

Read Genesis 4 for the story of Cain.

And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. And she again bare his brother Abel. And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD…

⇒ First human born (his parents were created).
⇒ A tiller of the ground (farmer).
⇒ Did things HIS way (disobedient).
⇒ Was Jealous of his brother, and angry.
⇒ A murderer (killed his younger brother).
⇒ Lied to God.

That sums up the way of Cain. He knew God. He talked with God. And he still disobeyed God.

Cain is spoken of 3 times in the New Testament.

Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts: and by it he being dead yet speaketh.
1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother’s righteous.
Jude 1:11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core.

The First 2000 Years

The Bible helps us date the Earth by recording the life span of various people from the time God created Adam to Noah and the flood.

Genesis 5-9

5:3 And Adam lived an hundred and thirty years, and begat a son in his own likeness, and after his image; and called his name Seth: Adam lived 930 years and had many sons and daughters (5:4-5). But the one being tracked is Seth who lived 912 years (5:12).

5:6 And Seth lived an hundred and five years, and begat Enos: At 105 years Seth fathered Enos (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 905 years (5:11).

5:10 And Enos lived after he begat Cainan eight hundred and fifteen years, and begat sons and daughters: At 70 years Cainan fathered Mahalaleel (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 910 years (5:14).

5:15 And Mahalaleel lived sixty and five years, and begat Jared: At 65 years Mahalaleel fathered Jared (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 895 years (5:14).

5:19 And Jared lived after he begat Enoch eight hundred years, and begat sons and daughters: At 162 years Jared fathered Enoch (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 962 years (5:20).

5:21 And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: At 65 years Enoch fathered Methuselah (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 365 years (5:23). But Enoch never died, God took him (5:24) because he walked with God.

5:25 And Methuselah lived an hundred eighty and seven years, and begat Lamech. At 187 years Methuselah fathered Lamech (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 969 years (5:27).

5:28-29 And Lamech lived an hundred eighty and two years, and begat a son: And he called his name Noah … At 182 years Lamech fathered Noah (and many other sons and daughters) and lived 777 years (5:31).

7:6 And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

Methuselah died the year the flood came. Lamech also died before the flood came. Lamech was born when Methuselah was 187 and Noah was born when Lamech was 182. 187+182=369. And the age of Noah when the flood came, 600+369 = 969 the age when Methuselah died (the same year the flood came).

Lamech died before the flood. 182 when Noah was born, plus Noah’s age 600 when the flood came 182+600=782. Lamech lived 777 years, he died 5 years before the flood.
Thus the Godly line continued thru Noah.

When did the flood occur? When the age of each above named individual is added together plus 600 years of Noah’s life, the flood came about 1656 years after Adam was created. 130+105+90+70+65+162+65+187+182+600=1656

9:29 And all the days of Noah were nine hundred and fifty years: and he died. And Noah died 2006 years after creation (950-600=350) (350+1656=2006).

Altar Observations

Image result for altars in old testament
Altar(s) appear in the Holy Scripture about 1628 times.
There are 3 Hebrew words and 2 Greek Words translated Altar(s):
  • Ari’eyl             the Altar of the Temple (3 times)    Ezekiel 43:15, 16, 18
  • Madbach        a sacrificial Altar  (1 times)    Ezra 7:17
  • Mizbeach       an Altar  (1600 times)
  • Bomos             an Altar  (1 times)     Acts 17:23 (false Altar)
  • Thusiaster     place of sacrifice & Altar  (23 times)

From Adam to the Flood (1656 years) the word Altar is NOT found in the Scripture. Offerings were made to God (Cain and Abel) and an Altar is assumed but not named.

The 1st mention of an Altar is after the flood.

Genesis 8:20 – Noah built an Altar and offered sacrifices three hundred and seventy five plus years later, the Altar is mentioned again after the call of Abram.
Genesis 12:7 – Abram arrives in land of Canaan and builds an Altar when God appears to him. After Lot separates to Sodom and Gomora, Abram moves to Hebron.
Genesis 13:18 – Abram builds an Alter (2nd) 30+ years later
Genesis 22:9 – Abraham builds (3rd) Altar to offer his only son Isaac as sacrifice.
Eighty five years pass during which Abraham dies.
Genesis 26:24 – Isaac builds an Altar after God reaffirms the Abrahamic Covenant.
— Sixty nine years pass before Jacob has stolen blessing from Esau and fled to Uncle Laban.
Genesis 33:20 – Jacob builds (1st) Alter after serving Laban 20 years and before seeing Esau. Returns to Bethel from Haran.
Genesis 35:1-7 – Jacob builds (2nd) Altar.
— Six Hundred and 10 plus years pass.
Exodus 17:15 – Moses (80 years old) leads Israelites out of Egypt and builds an Altar.
— Forty years of wilderness wanderings pass and the Altar is established as part of the Tabernacle and an orderly worship of God is established.
Joshua 8:30 – Joshua builds an Altar after the defeat at Ai.
— Thirty plus years spent possessing the land. Tribes of Rueben, Gad & ½ Manasseh return to other side of Jordan.
Joshua 22:10 – And they build an (great) Altar, which causes much concern for Israel.

200 years later the Altar is mentioned again

Judges 6:25 – Gideon builds an Altar unto the Lord (after tearing down father’s false Altar).
Judges 21:24-25 – plays an important part in the next Altar that is built.
Judges 21:4 – The people of Israel build an Altar.
Samuel is Judge, people want a King.
1 Samuel 7:17 – Samuel built an Altar in Ramah.
Several years pass and Saul is the King of Israel.
1 Samuel 14:35 – Saul built an Altar (1st) unto the Lord.
Samuel has died, Saul and Sons are killed.
2 Samuel 24:25 – King David builds an Altar to avert a plague.
David turns kingdom over to Solomon, who serves 4 years and then spends 20 years building Temple/Palace.
1 Kings 9:25 – Solomon builds an Altar unto the Lord.
Solomon dies. Kingdom turned over to Rehoboam who sets high taxes and total dictatorship.
Israel rebels and follows Jeroboam.  Judah follows Rehoboam.
1 Kings 12:33 – Jeroboam builds an Altar in Bethel (not unto the Lord).

There are still many references in the Old Testament to Altars being used, torn down or built up unto the Lord as well as False. The New Testament, other than references in Revelation, refer to the Old Testament.

Matthew 5:23,24; 23:18-20,35,  Luke 1:11; 11:51,  Acts 17:23
1 Corinthians 9:13; 10:18, Hebrews 7:13; 13:10, James 2:21

It would appear that the Altar is currently in Heaven:
Revelation 6:9; 8:3,5; 9:13; 11:1; 14:18; 16:7.

It also appears that the “Cross” is the final altar (Hebrews 13:9-16).
Remember the final words the Lord said, “IT IS FINISHED” (John 19:30).

Noah’s Ark

Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah’s Ark .

  1. Don’t miss the boat.
  2. Remember that we are all in the same boat.
  3. Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
  4. Stay fit. When you’re 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
  5. Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
  6. Build your future on high ground.
  7. For safety sake, travel in pairs.
  8. Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
  9. When you’re stressed, float a while.
  10. Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
  11. No matter the storm, when you have faith, there’s always a rainbow waiting.

Summary: David lived for 70 years
30 years old when he became King of Judah
7 yrs 6 months he ruled Judah
33 yrs he ruled all Israel from Jerusalem
40 plus years ruling (I Kings 2:11-2?)
70 years old when he dies

IF David is 40 when Solomon is born, and Solomon reigns 40 yrs
(I Kings 11:42), then Solomon was 70 years old when he died.

Solomon started the Temple in 4th year (II Chronicles 3:2) of his reign:
7 years to build Temple I Kings 6:37
13 years to build his Palace I Kings 6:38
20 years to build both I Kings 7:1

At age 30 – Solomon takes reign over Israel
At age 34 – Starts building Temple (II Chronicles 3:2)
At age 41 – Temple complete
At age 54 – Palace complete
At age 70 – Solomon Dies

ELI – The Father that Failed

Everything we know about Eli is found in
1 Samuel 1-4.

Eli was a priest, a descendent of Aaron and a Godly man.
  • 1 Samuel 1:9 He was a priest in the Temple of Shiloh
  • 1 Samuel 1:12-13 He condemned sin
  • 1 Samuel 1:17 He spoke for God (prophesied)
  • 1 Samuel 3:18 He accepted God’s will for his life

He was a believer and a Godly man

Eli was a Judge of Israel for 40 years (1 Samuel 4:18)
Eli was a husband and a father (all thought his wife is never mentioned)
His sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests (1 Samuel 1:3)

ELI – Priest, Judge, Husband, Father and FAILURE
Eli the Failure, failed to see his sons get saved.

1 Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.

And the sons became:
  • Irreverent and Sacrilegious (1 Samuel 2:13-16)
  • Stumbling Blocks to Israel (1 Samuel 2:17)
  • Fornicators and Adulterers (1 Samuel 2:22)
Surely Eli wasn’t responsible for his sons actions.

YES, he was! He failed to restrain them  (1 Samuel 3:13)
Deuteronomy 17:9-12, Deuteronomy 21:18-21, Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go.
TRAIN = to form by instruction, discipline, drill.

Train a child Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 23:13-14
A BEATING? – that’s sadistic
A SPANKING? – that’s love

“But I love my child too much to spank them”.

Proverbs 13:24 says different! DAD, it’s your job, you are responsible.
ELI Failed.
Eli loved his sons —- more than he loved the Lord (1 Samuel 2:29)

Eli’s position with God: his salvation became common place.

He was chosen by God to serve (1 Samuel 2:28)
But he took it for granted (1 Samuel 2:29)
ELI – Priest, Judge, Husband, Father and FAILURE
He’s in Heaven by the Grace of God, but his sons are in Hell.
