Kingdom of Heaven

Kingdom of Heaven is never mentioned in the Old Testament but 31 times in the New – all in MATTHEW.

THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN IS THE VALID OFFER OF CHRIST JESUS TO THE JEWS, ISRAEL TO SET UP THE NATION OF ISRAEL AS A LEADING NATION ON EARTH. AS IT WAS DURING THE REIGN OF KING DAVID AND KING SOLOMON, WITH CHRIST AS KING.

Matthew 3:2 And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:10 Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:19-20 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven. For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 7:21 Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 8:11 And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 10:7 And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.
Matthew 11:11-12 Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.
Matthew 13:11 He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.
Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:
Matthew 13:31 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:
Matthew 13:33 Another parable spake he unto them; The kingdom of heaven is like unto leaven, which a woman took, and hid in three measures of meal, till the whole was leavened.
Matthew 13:44-45 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a merchant man, seeking goodly pearls:
Matthew 13:47 Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:
Matthew 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Kingdom of God

Never mentioned in Old Testament but 68 times in the New.

The kingdom is God is spiritual. It is entered into by the new birth. When an individual is saved. By confessing the LORD Jesus and believing in your heart that God has raised him from the dead.
The gospels record the valid offer the Lord Jesus made to the nation of Israel and to every Jew.

Matthew 21:43 Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.

King Jesus for the Gentile

Image result for jesus on the cross

When the Jews (as a Nation) rejected Christ Jesus as their Messiah, coming King (see King Jesus for the Jews). God, the Lord Jesus called the Jewish scourge (Saul) of all Jews who were becoming Christians (Acts 11:26) persecuting them even to putting them into jail and death. SAUL, a Pharisee, a leader within the Jewish Religion.  After Saul’s conversion he tried to reach his fellow Jews with the gospel (1 Cor 15:1-4) but his ministry was limited and the religious leaders sought to kill him, so he turned to reaching out to the gentile world. (this was all God’s plan to open the plan of salvation to the Gentile world.)

Philippians 3:5-6 (Saul’s Jewish heritage) Circumcised the eighth day, of the stock of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of the Hebrews; as touching the law, a Pharisee;  Concerning zeal, persecuting the church; touching the righteousness which is in the law, blameless.
Acts 9:15 bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel:
Acts 13:46-47  Then Paul and Barnabas waxed bold, and said, It was necessary that the word of God should first have been spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.  For so hath the Lord commanded us, saying, I have set thee to be a light of the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth.

Paul, the apostle to the gentiles (Romans 11:13 For I speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office) only twice mentions the Lord Jesus Christ as KING. His message to Gentiles is that we are HEIRS, JOINT HEIRS with Christ.

1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Romans 8:17 And if children, then heirsheirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.
Galatians 3:29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Titus 3:7 That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Yes, Christ Jesus will rule and reign here on earth from Jerusalem during the millennium. He will be King of the Jews and we, believers in His death, burial and resurrection (and ascension into heaven and soon coming again) will reign with Him as JOINT HEIRS.   AMEN!

King Jesus for the Jew

A review of the verses below (put them back into context for further reading) show that not only did the 12 disciples of Jesus believe he was the Messiah, the coming King, so did his detractors, the Pharisees and Sadducees, and most Jews at large; which is why they sought to crucify him. It would upset their religious power. Pilate wondered at the idea as did other Roman leaders.  During His three-year ministry He performed miracles to prove His deity and that He was the CHRIST, MESSIAH and their King promised to them in the Old Testament (see below) . And one day soon (after a seven year tribulation), He will return in power and take up His seat upon the Throne of David in Jerusalem to Rule.  (Read the words of Peter Acts 2:22-37)

King Jesus for the World

Yes, the Lord Jesus came into this world to present himself to the Nation of Israel to be their King and to rule over them from Jerusalem. They rejected and crucified Him (Acts 2:23). God then called Saul, who became Paul, to take the message of salvation to the Gentile world (Romans 11:11). This is was a mystery and will one day end (Romans 11:25) and the Lord Jesus, King of Kings will turn to set up His kingdom to rule and rein over the Jews and the entire world.

Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.

The Apostle Paul wrote to Timothy that Jesus Christ was King and Lord.

1 Timothy 1:17 Now unto the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only wise God, be honour and glory for ever and ever. Amen.
1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

And John, the writer of Revelation, pens the following about the Lord Jesus Christ, the KING:

Revelation 15:3 And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints.
Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
Revelation 19:16 And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, King Of Kings, And Lord Of Lords.

Yes, Scoffers are among us even to this day as Peter warned (2 Peter 3:3-10). But next the Rapture, then the Tribulation, then the second coming and beginning of the 1000 years (millennium) reign on earth of the Lord Jesus, followed by the Great White Throne Judgement and then Eternity.

2 Peter 3:3-4  Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation.

Rapture      – I Thessalonians 4:13-18, I Corinthians 15:51-57
Tribulation  – Matthew 24:21-29
2nd Coming  – Matthew 24:30, Acts 1:11, Revelation 1:7, Revelation 19:11-16
1000 years/Millennium Reign – Revelation 20:3-4
Great White Throne – Revelation 20:11-15
Eternity        – Revelation 21-22

King of Kings, Lord of Lords

Image result for king jesus

The titles KING OF KINGS and LORD OF LORDS are used to describe the Lord Jesus during His one-thousand-year reign on earth from Jerusalem. We find this mentioned 3 times in the books of the new testament:
1 Timothy 6:15 Which in his times he shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;

Definition of king of kings. : a monarch having other monarchs under him:
These titles are referred to in the Old Testament and need to be looked at.
Ezra 7:12 Artaxerxes, king of kings, unto Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven, perfect peace, and at such a time.
Ezra was written sometime after 458 BC while Artaxerxes was king of Persia. He was considered the sixth King of Kings.
Ezekiel 26:7 For thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I will bring upon Tyrus Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, a king of kings, from the north, with horses, and with chariots, and with horsemen, and companies, and much people.
Of course, Nebuchadrezzar would be called a king of kings. He was used by God to bring judgement upon Israel for their disobedience to His word.
Daniel 2:37 Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.
Daniel refers to Nebuchadrezzar as a king of kings and reminds him where his power, and strength, and glory comes from – the God of heaven.

Lord is an appellation for a person or deity who has authority, control, or power over others acting like a master, a chief, or a ruler.
A King is in charge of a kingdom. A lord is not a royal. … And “lord” is an honorific that can be used by any male peer- duke, marquess, earl, viscount and baron.
Deuteronomy 10:17 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:

The Psalmist reminds us that God is the LORD OF LORDS.
Psalm 136:3 O give thanks to the Lord of lords: for his mercy endureth for ever.

And in conclusion, since the Lord Jesus is God, then when he sets up his kingdom on earth he will truly be KING OF KINGS, LORD OF LORDS.

Kingdom of Heaven Part 2

Matthew 16:19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
Matthew 18:1 At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?
Matthew 18:3-4 And said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 18:23 Therefore is the kingdom of heaven likened unto a certain king, which would take account of his servants.
Matthew 19:14 But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 19:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 20:1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard.
Matthew 22:2 The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
Matthew 23:13 But woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.
Matthew 25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
Matthew 25:14 For the kingdom of heaven is as a man travelling into a far country, who called his own servants, and delivered unto them his goods.

But the Jewish people, Israel, turned Him down, rejected and crucified Him. Even after the resurrection they continued to reject Him (and still do today) as their King.

Isaiah 9:6 For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Thou Shall Call His Name JESUS Part 2

JESUS… A name that indicated His work
Some preach him as a great teacher, Prophet, as the Son of God, as the Son of Man who came to explain God to us… These all are true BUT incomplete!
He came to SAVE Israel Matthew 1:21 … for he shall save his people from their sins.
To the uttermost Hebrews 7:25 Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them.
JESUS… His name fits His Mission
Names mean something. Throughout scripture names describe, give us insight, more meaning. (What does your name mean?….Are You?)
Jesus means Saviour, Peter said to the Jews Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Paul said to the Gentiles Romans 10:9 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
JESUS… His name is forever
Paul tells us in Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Jesus told his disciples John 14:6 …, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.
The Way to God, therefore HE needs to be preached
The Truth, therefore we need to hear of Him
The Life, therefore we should rejoice in Him
WITHOUT THE WAY, THERE IS NO GOING.
WITHOUT THE TRUTH, THERE IS NO KNOWING.
WITHOUT THE LIFE, THERE IS NOT LIVING.

Put to Music it goes…
“There is a name I love to hear, I love to sing it’s worth, it sounds like music in my ear, the sweetest name on earth…”

Statements from the Cross

Prior to Being hung on the Cross, Christ had little to say:

Isaiah 53:7 He was oppressed, and he was afflicted, yet he opened not his mouth: he is brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before her shearers is dumb, so he openeth not his mouth.
Matthew 26:63 But Jesus held his peace, And the high priest answered and said unto him, I adjure thee by the living God, that thou tell us whether thou be the Christ, the Son of God.
Acts 8:32 The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:

And as He hung on the cross He only spoke seven statements (mostly quoting or fulfilling scripture) before he gave up the ghost.
  1. Luke 23:34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment and cast lots.
Psalm 22:18 They part my garments among them and cast lots upon my vesture.
  2. Luke 23:43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise. (see Luke 16:19-31)
  3. John 19:26-27 When Jesus therefore saw his mother, and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he saith unto his mother, Woman, behold thy son! Then saith he to the disciple, Behold thy mother! And from that hour that disciple took her unto his own home.
  4. Matthew 27:46 (Mark 15:34) And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
Psalm 22:1 My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
  5. John 19:28 After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.
Psalm 22:15 My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death.
  6. John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
  7. Luke 23:46 And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
Psalm 31:5 Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Cross of Christ

Image result for carry the cross
In the early Passages of Matthew, Mark and Luke when Jesus speaks of bearing a cross, He is not referring to HIS CROSS, just a heavy burden:

Matthew 10:38, Luke 14:27 And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.
Matthew 16:24, Mark 8:34, Luke 9:23 Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
Mark 10:21 Then Jesus beholding him loved him, and said unto him, One thing thou lackest: go thy way, sell whatsoever thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

Then after His arrest the references in Matthew Mark Luke and John are the actual Cross of Christ:

Matthew 27:32 And as they came out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name: him they compelled to bear his cross.
Matthew 27:40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Matthew 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
Mark 15:21 And they compel one Simon a Cyrenian, who passed by, coming out of the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to bear his cross.
Mark 15:30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
Mark 15:32 Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him.
Luke 23:26 And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.
John 19:17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
John 19:19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19:25 Now there stood by the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene.
John 19:31 The Jews therefore, because it was the preparation, that the bodies should not remain upon the cross on the sabbath day, (for that sabbath day was an high day,) besought Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away.
