II John
1:1 The elder unto the elect lady and her children, whom I love in the truth; and not I only, but also all they that have known the truth; Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth.
1:8 Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward. Daniel 12:3 And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever.
Written to Gaius, a prominent believing leader in one of the assemblies that John knew about, to commend his hospitality and to encourage him in his Christian life.
III John
