GOD in flesh

John 1:1-3,14  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

1 Timothy 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
1 John 5:20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.

He created all
Colossians 1:14-17 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, ordominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Ephesians 3:9 And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

He makes believers new creations

2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
Ephesians 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Colossians 3:10 And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
James 1:18 Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of first fruits of his creatures.

It’s Interesting to note that the Gospel writers only mention Creation 3 times in Mark:

Romans 14:10-11 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

1 Peter 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:
2 Peter 3:5 For this they willingly are ignorant of, that by the word of God the heavens were of old, and the earth standing out of the water and in the water:
2 Peter 3:8 But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

The Great White Throne

Image result for the great white throne judgement

Revelation 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

The final Judgement of SIN (rebellion against God). It comes at the end of the 1000-year reign of Christ Jesus on earth. Read Revelation 20-21.

Old testament Saints (Those who believed in God by Faith) will not be there as they went to heaven with Christ at his resurrection (Ephesians 4:8-10 Wherefore he saith, when he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men. (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)).

Believers who have died since the resurrection are also in Heaven
(2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.) and won’t be there. And we who are alive when the rapture occurs (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord Wherefore comfort one another with these words.) also won’t be Judged at the Great White Throne.

Then who will be judged at the Great White Thone?
According to Revelation 20, all the unbelievers, unsaved, all those who have rebelled since Satan fell from heaven (Isaiah 14:12-15 How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.).

The Devil (having been freed from the bottomless pit (Revelation 20:3,7 And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,) will be cast alive into the LAKE OF FIRE where the beast and false prophet are. (Revelation 20:10  And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.)

All unbelievers (alive and those in Hell (who will be brought up) Revelation 20:12-13 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.) will be brought before the Great White Throne and Judged – GUILTY.  They along with DEATH and HELL will be cast into the LAKE OF FIRE. (Revelation 20:14-15 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.)

Again, NO BELIEVER (those who expressed faith in God through Christ Jesus) will not be Judged at the Great White Throne.

Believers judgment was at the Judgement (Bema) seat of Christ:

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.

Romans 14:11-12 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

I Corinthians 3:11-15  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.

Believers never need fear the Great White Throne Judgement.

If Believers are at the Great White Throne it will be “To execute vengeance upon the heathen, and punishments upon the people;”.

Judgement Seat of Christ

Image result for judgement seat of christ image

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.
Romans 14:11-12 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
As stated in the above references it says “all appear before the judgement seat of Christ” and “every knee shall bow… every on shall give an account”.  Now let’s examine these verses a little closer. 2 Corinthians 5:10 begins with “For we must all”, who is the we? It would appear to include the writer, the apostle Paul.  And it does! Paul is writing to Believers and includes himself.  So this verse in talking about the “BEMA Seat” the judgement seat of Christ where all believer’s will give an account of the life they lived AFTER they believed.
Now read 1 Corinthians 3, especially vs 11-15. This gives an account of the judgement seat of Christ.
The Apostle Paul writes to the churches explaining how believers will be judged:
Galatians 6:7 Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
Ephesians 6:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.
Colossians 3:24-25 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
But Romans 14:11-12 says … ! This is a quote from the old Testament and refers to those (from Adam through the Millilumen) appearing before the Great White Throne (Revelation 20:11).
Even the Lord Jesus warned of this in Matthew 12:36-37 But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.
Now, since the believers were judged by Christ before the Millilumen, we will not be Judged here. When an individual believes the Gospel, the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus(1 Corinthians 15:1-4), confessing that He is God (Romans 10:9-13) he is saved and all sins, past, present and future are under His blood, forgiven. And our works (since believing) will be judged (Romans 10:14) and we will receive reward for those deemed valuable by Christ. (1 Corinthians 3:11-15)

To collude, the judgement seat of Christ and the Great White Throne are two different judgments occurring at least 1000 years apart.
See posts on Great White Throne.
1 Corinthians 15:1-4 Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand; By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain. For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:
Romans 10:9-13 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Following Covenants are made to the Jew, Israel:
Abrahamic (Genesis 12:1-3; 15:18; 17:2-21, Exodus 2:24; 6:4-5; 19:5) a Covenant with All descendants of Abraham with no end.

New Covenant (Jeremiah 31:31-37) to the Jews and it begins at the start of the Millennium, after Armageddon.
EVERLASTING (14 times in Old Testament and once in Hebrews 13:20)
See Below:
The Jew, Israel, was warned through out the Old testament to keep God’s covenant even into the Gospels and Acts.
Luke 1:72 To perform the mercy …, and to remember his holy covenant;
Acts 3:25, 7:8 And he gave him the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
The Apostle Paul, writing to the Hebrews (Jews) before the destruction of the Temple, reminded them of the Covenant and a better covenant.
Hebrews 8:6-10 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second. For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: …
Hebrews 8:13, 9:1,4, 10:16,29, 12:24, 13:20
In Paul’s letters to the churches, he wrote of the Old Covenants given to Israel, The JEW, and how they did not honor them.
Romans 1:31, 9:4, 11:27 For this is my covenant unto them, when I shall take away their sins. Galatians 3:15,17 4:24 Ephesians 2:12 That at that time ye were without Christ, …, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God …
God’s covenants with man have been kept by HIM. Man has failed. But God will keep HIS covenants forever.
THE EVERLASTING COVENANT

Genesis 9:16 And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature …
Genesis 17:7,13,19, Leviticus 24:8, 2 Samuel 23:5, 1 Chronicles 16:17, Psalm 105:10, Isaiah 24:5, 55:3, 61:8, Jeremiah 32:40, Ezekiel 16:60, 37:26, Hebrews 13:20 Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,

ELI – The Father that Failed

Everything we know about Eli is found in
1 Samuel 1-4.

Eli was a priest, a descendent of Aaron and a Godly man.
  • 1 Samuel 1:9 He was a priest in the Temple of Shiloh
  • 1 Samuel 1:12-13 He condemned sin
  • 1 Samuel 1:17 He spoke for God (prophesied)
  • 1 Samuel 3:18 He accepted God’s will for his life

He was a believer and a Godly man

Eli was a Judge of Israel for 40 years (1 Samuel 4:18)
Eli was a husband and a father (all thought his wife is never mentioned)
His sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were priests (1 Samuel 1:3)

ELI – Priest, Judge, Husband, Father and FAILURE
Eli the Failure, failed to see his sons get saved.

1 Samuel 2:12 Now the sons of Eli were sons of Belial; they knew not the Lord.

And the sons became:
  • Irreverent and Sacrilegious (1 Samuel 2:13-16)
  • Stumbling Blocks to Israel (1 Samuel 2:17)
  • Fornicators and Adulterers (1 Samuel 2:22)
Surely Eli wasn’t responsible for his sons actions.

YES, he was! He failed to restrain them  (1 Samuel 3:13)
Deuteronomy 17:9-12, Deuteronomy 21:18-21, Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go.
TRAIN = to form by instruction, discipline, drill.

Train a child Proverbs 22:15, Proverbs 23:13-14
A BEATING? – that’s sadistic
A SPANKING? – that’s love

“But I love my child too much to spank them”.

Proverbs 13:24 says different! DAD, it’s your job, you are responsible.
ELI Failed.
Eli loved his sons —- more than he loved the Lord (1 Samuel 2:29)

Eli’s position with God: his salvation became common place.

He was chosen by God to serve (1 Samuel 2:28)
But he took it for granted (1 Samuel 2:29)
ELI – Priest, Judge, Husband, Father and FAILURE
He’s in Heaven by the Grace of God, but his sons are in Hell.
