A sparrow is a small brown bird. Sparrows live near humans and have a pretty, musical song. They come in many varieties
Psalm 84:3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.
Psalm 102:7I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.
The Lord Jesus used the common sparrow to show how much He loves and cares for humans: Matthew 10:29-31Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows. Luke also records the words of the Lord Jesus: Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.
How important is man to God? He came and died for our sin!

The mourning dove is named for is haunting and sad cooing sound. Its call is sometimes mistaken for the call of an owl. When the mourning doves flies, its wings make a whistling sound. The Dove family contains 344 species divided into 49 genera. The first mention of a Dove is in Genesis 8:8-12 when Noah sent forth a Dove from the Ark to see if there was any dry ground.
Psalm 55:6And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest. Psalm 68:13Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
King Solomon refers to one of his lovers as my Dove. Song of Solomon 2:14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock… Song of Solomon 5:2 I sleep, but … saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: … Song of Solomon 6:9 My dove, my undefiled is but one; …
Isaiah 38:14Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me. Jeremiah 48:28 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth. Hosea 7:11Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria. Hosea 11:11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.
All of the gospel writers record the baptism of the Lord Jesus and compare the Holy Spirit descending upon Him as or “like a Dove”. Matthew 3:16, (Mark 1:10, Luke 3:22, John 1:32)And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased. John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
It’s interesting that Holy Spirit was like a dove that descended on the Lord Jesus (peace?) and in Acts 2:1-4 the Holy Spirit was given to the disciples in the form of “cloven tongues like as of fire” (power to witness).

It is taught that the dragon is “a mythical monster like a giant reptile”. But a study of Scripture reveals a different picture. When the Bible was written (and then translated) the word DINOSAUR did not exist. In 1842, paleontologist Richard Owen coined the term dinosaur, dino (Greek deinos meaning “terrible” or “fearfully great,”) and sauros, meaning “lizard” or reptile.”
34 times the Dragon(s) is spoke about in the Old Testament. Were these writers all wrong?
Dragons are recorded in Deuteronomy 32:33Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps. Also in Nehemiah 2:13, Job 30:29, Psalm 44:19, 74:13, 91:13, 148:7.
They are mentioned along with owls, beast of the field, asses, Are these animals also a myth? Isaiah 13:22, 27:1, 34:13, 35:7, 43:20, 51:9.
Jeremiah 10:22,Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons. And he continues Jeremiah 14:6, 49:33, 51:34,37.
And in Ezekiel 29:3, Micah 1:8, and Malachi 1:3. Do you suppose the translators of the Bible would have used the word “Dinosaur” if it was available to them?
Twelve (12) times in the book of Revelation the word Dragon appears. In each case it is referring to SATAN. Revelation 12:3-4And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born. Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels, Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:13And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child. Revelation 12:16And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ. Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority. Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him? Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon. Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. Revelation 20:2And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

The calf was used as meat on special occasions: Genesis 18:7-8And Abraham ran unto the herd, and fetcht a calf tender and good, and gave it unto a young man; and he hasted to dress it. And he took butter, and milk, and the calf which he had dressed, and set it before them; and he stood by them under the tree, and they did eat.
As the Israelites were waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain with the word from God, turned to their old ways and had Aaron make them a golden calf to worship: Exodus 32:4And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. Exodus 32:8They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt. Exodus 32:19And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses’ anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount. And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strawed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it. Exodus 32:24And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf. And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.
Other references to the calf when it is offered as a sacrifice or meat: Leviticus 9:2-3, 9:8, 9:16, 9:21, 1 Samuel 28:24, Nehemiah 9:18, Job 21:10, Job 21:10, Psalm 29:6, 106:19, Isaiah 11:6, 27:10, Jeremiah 34:18-19, Hosea 8:5-6
The Lord Jesus speaks of the calf in his story of the prodigal son. Luke 15:23And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: Luke 15:27And he said unto him, Thy brother is come; and thy father hath killed the fatted calf, because he hath received him safe and sound. Luke 15:30But as soon as this thy son was come, which hath devoured thy living with harlots, thou hast killed for him the fatted calf.
Stephen, while rehearsing Israel’s history, reminds them of the golden calf. Acts 7:41And they made a calf in those days, and offered sacrifice unto the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.
John writes of the four beasts (government) that ruled the earth. Revelation 4:7And the first beast was like a lion, and the second beast like a calf, and the third beast had a face as a man, and the fourth beast was like a flying eagle.
The day finally arrived. Forrest Gump dies and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed and Forrest approaches the gatekeeper.
St. Peter said, “Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must tell you, though, that the place is filling up fast and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it before you can get into Heaven.”
Forrest responds, “It sure is good to be here, St. Peter, sir. But nobody ever told me about any entrance exam I sure hope that the test ain’t too hard. Life was a big enough test as it was.”
St. Peter continued, “Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions. First: What two days of the week begin with the letter T? Second: How many seconds are there in a year? Third: What is God’s first name?”
Forrest leaves to think over the questions He returns the next day and sees St. Peter, who waves him up and says, “Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers.”
Forrest replied, “Well, the first one — which two days in the week begins with the letter “T”? Shucks, that one is easy. That would be Today and Tomorrow.”
The Saint’s eyes opened wide and he exclaimed, “Forrest, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point and I guess I did not specify, so I will give you credit for that answer. How about the next one” asked St Peter.
“How many seconds in a year? Now that one is harder,” replied Forrest, but I thunk and thunk about that and I guess the only answer can be twelve.”
Astounded, St. Pete said, “Twelve? Forrest, how in Heaven’s name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?”
Forrest replied, “Shucks, there’s got to be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd…. “
“Hold it,” interrupts St. Peter. “I see where you are going with this and I see your point, though that was not quite what I had in mind…..but I will have to give you credit for that one, too. Let us go on with the third and final question. Can you tell me God’s first name?”
“Sure,” Forrest replied, “it’s Andy.”
“Andy?” exclaimed an exasperated and frustrated St Peter. “Ok, I can understand how you came up with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world did you come up with the name Andy as the first name of God?”
“Shucks, that was the easiest one of all,” Forrest replied. “I learnt it from the song, “ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME I AM HIS OWN.”
St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates, and said: “Run Forrest, run.”
Give me a sense of humor, Lord. Give me the ability to understand a clean joke, to get some humor out of life and forethought to pass it on to other folk.
