Recorded in Matthew 2 and Luke 2 is the birth of JesusMost have seen a Christmas Play at a church or school. On stage is a manger scene with Mary, Joseph, shepherds, animals and a baby Jesus. Soldiers drove stake-like nails through Jesus’ wrists and ankles, fixing him to the cross. An inscription was placed over his head that read, “The King of the Jews.” Jesus hung on the cross for approximately six hours until he took his final breath. While he was on the cross, soldiers cast lots for Jesus’ clothing. Onlookers shouted insults and jeered. Two criminals were crucified at the same time.

During this 3 hour of darkness, Jesus speaks:

It’s the Annual High Holy Day.

Chief Priests Guards are posted and seal the tomb. (Mt 27:62-66) 

Disciples dispersed and hiding in fear, their messiah is dead. 

To summarize:
Wednesday before 6 pm – Jesus went to paradise and took thief with Him. (Lk 23:39-46)
Jesus stayed there for 3 days & 3 nights. (Mt 12:40)
The Hebrew word for the place of the dead is “sheol,” it consisted of two compartments. (Lk 16:19-26)
He was not tormented in sheol; He was preaching! (I Peter 3:18-20, 4:6) The body of Jesus was in the grave from Wednesday night through Saturday.
Remember, a Hebrew day runs from 6 P.M. – 6 P.M. (24 hours).

HE IS RISEN

He is not here, He has risen! (Mt 28:6, Mk 16:6)

What the death, burial and resurrection accomplished: Col 2:14-15 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

DRING is responsible for more lost souls, more broken homes, murders, suicides, shame, misery … than any other product (drugs are coming on strong) on earth.
IT IS NOT A SICKNESS, IT IS SIN …… SIN SOLD IN A BOTTLE!

What am I suggesting …. TOTAL Abstinence! Don’t drink alcohol!
“But I won’t be part of the crowd”. Wouldn’t that be Great! You’d travel in a much nicer crowd.

Leviticus 10:9 Priests were NOT to drink
Numbers 6:3 Nazarites were not to drink
Proverbs 23:31 Wise men warned not to drink
Proverbs 31:4 Kings and princes warned not to drink
Jeremiah 35:6 Children of Rechab told not to drink
Daniel 1:8 Daniel chose not to defile himself with drink
Luke 1:15 John the Baptist didn’t defile himself with drink
Romans 14:21 Warns not to use meat or drink to be a stumbling block
WHAT Does drinking get you?
TIS THE SEASON TO BE JOLLY … Let it be from the Heart, not from the bottle.
Final thought:
Habakkuk 2:15 Woe unto him that giveth his neighbour drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness!
