To the Church in Galatia, which were trying to go back under the LAW, Paul wrote: Galatians 3:10For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is writtenDeuteronomy 27:26, Jeremiah 11:3, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. Galatians 3:13Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: forit is writtenDeuteronomy 21:23, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: Galatians 4:22 For it is writtenGenesis 12, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman. Galatians 4:27 For it is writtenIsaiah 54:1, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
And Paul reminded his “son”: 1 Timothy 5:18For thescripture saithDeuteronomy 25:1, thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.
To fellow Jewish believers Paul quoted: Hebrews 10:7Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the bookit is writtenPsalm 40:7, of me,) to do thy will, O God.
Even though the Gentiles were not knowledgeable of the Jewish Scripture, Paul was and he quoted them often. To the Corinthians:
1 Corinthians 1:19For it is writtenIsaiah 29:14, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. 1 Corinthians 1:31 That, according as it is writtenJeremiah 9:24, He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is writtenIsaiah 64:4, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1 Corinthians 3:19For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written Job 5:13, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness. 1 Corinthians 9:9 For it is writtenDeuteronomy 25:4, in the law of Moses, thou shalt not muzzle the mouth of the ox that treadeth out the corn. To the Romans: Romans 1:17For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is writtenHabakkuk 2:4, The just shall live by faith. Romans 2:24For the name of God is blasphemed among the Gentiles through you, as it is writtenLeviticus 18:22. Romans 11:2God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith1 Kings 19:10,14 of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying, Romans 11:8 (According as it is written Isaiah 44:18, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear;) unto this day. Acts 15:15 And to this agree the words of the prophets; as it is writtenAmos 9:11-12, James 4:5Do ye think that the scripture saithProverbs 3:31, 14:30, 23:17, 27:4, in vain, The spirit that dwelleth in us lusteth to envy? 1 Peter 1:16Because it is writtenLeviticus 20:7, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
And Paul also quoted from the Scripture. Acts 23:5 Then said Paul, I wist not, brethren, that he was the high priest: for it is writtenExodus 22:28, Thou shalt not speak evil of the ruler of thy people.
The Lord Jesus many time said IT IS WRITTEN, which validates the Scripture is the word of God. Matthew 2:5And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written Genesis 4:10 by the prophet, Matthew 4:4, Luke 4:4But he answered and said, It is written,Deuteronomy 8:3Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God. Is not found in the scripture. Revived, Revive, Reviving
Revived: to regain life, consciousness, or strength. Genesis 45:17 …Jacob their father revived. Judges 15:19 …his spirit came again, and he revived… 1 Kings 17:22 …the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived. 2 Kings 13:21 …he revived , and stood up on his feet. Romans 7:9 For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. Romans 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Revive: To return to life; to recover life. To recover new life or vigor; to be reanimated after depression. To recover from a state of neglect, oblivion, obscurity or depression. To renew in the mind or memory; to recall. To bring again into notice. Psalm 85:6Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee? Psalm 138:7Though I walk in the midst of trouble, thou wilt revive me: thou shalt stretch forth thine hand against the wrath of mine enemies, and thy right hand shall save me. Isaiah 57:15For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones. Hosea 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Hosea 14:7They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon. Habakkuk 3:2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.
Reviving: give new strength or energy. Ezra 9:8And now for a little space grace hath been shewed from the LORD our God, to leave us a remnant to escape, and to give us a nail in his holy place, that our God may lighten our eyes, and give us a little reviving in our bondage. Ezra 9:9For we were bondmen; yet our God hath not forsaken us in our bondage, but hath extended mercy unto us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to give us a reviving, to set up the house of our God, and to repair the desolations thereof, and to give us a wall in Judah and in Jerusalem.

God saved a REMNANT
The Apostle Paul quotes from Isaiah (Esaias) the judgements concerning Israel.
Romans 9:27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: See Isaiah 1:9, 10:20-22, 11:11,16, 14:22,30, 15:9, 16:14, 17:3, 37:4,31-32, 46:3
Yes, over the centuries, Israel, the Jew, has suffered many great trials, BUT they are still God’s chosen and a REMNANT will pass into and through the Tribulation, to help repopulate the earth again during the Millennium.
Romans 11:5 Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace.
Putting this verse back into context, we see Paul is referring to Israel, the Jew, NOT the church. Be sure to read Romans 9-11 where Paul writes about Israel’s spiritual condition during the Church age. Below is just a short picture: (remember, Jacob represents the ungodly side of the Jew, Israel represents the spiritual side of the Jew).
Romans 9:6 Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: Romans 9:27Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved: Romans 9:31But Israel, which followed after the law of righteousness, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. Romans 10:1Brethren, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. Romans 10:19But I say, Did not Israel know? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are no people, and by a foolish nation I will anger you. Romans 10:21But to Israel he saith, All day long I have stretched forth my hands unto a disobedient and gainsaying people. Romans 11:2God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew. Wot ye not what the scripture saith of Elias? how he maketh intercession to God against Israel saying, Romans 11:7What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded. Romans 11:25For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness fulness of the Gentiles be come in. Romans 11:26And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, and shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:
Matthew, John, and Peter were of the original twelve called by the Lord Jesus to serve with Him during His earthly ministry. All three were Jews, as were all the rest of the N.T. writers.
Matthewwas probably the most educated as he was a tax collector. His Gospel was written to his fellow Jews, to present Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God who came to bring the Kingdom of God to them. His gospel is of course Jewish flavored. Markwas a Jew, a “SON” of Peter. He was greatly influenced by Peter and his conversion from Judaism to Christianity. He was also a nephew of Barnabas. No doubt the teaching of the twelve greatly influenced his becoming a believer and he desire to be a missionary with Barnabas and Paul. His Jewish background probably had a lot to do with his leaving Barnabas and Paul on the first missionary trip. But later we hear from Paul that Mark had come to be “profitable to me for the ministry”. Mark was a disciple of Paul’s and his Gospel, was written to present Jesus the Christ and His ministry to the Romans (Church). Luke the Jewish Physician was no doubt drawn to the Apostles (and possible to the Lord Himself) because of the miraclous healings that were taken place. He gravitated to Paul and documented his missionary travels. His book, The Acts of the Apostles, is a transitional book from the Birth of the first (Jewish) Church to the true Church (which includes Jew and Gentile with no difference). He covers the ACTS of the twelve and then shifts to the ACTS of Paul and missions. If he were to write a book today, it would no doubt be entitled the ACTS of the CHURCH. His Gospel was written for the intellect, the Greeks, to present the birth, life, death, burial and resurrection of Christ. He presents the humanity of the Lord Jesus. John the youngest of the twelve, his gospel is written to the world, to show Jesus as more than the Messiah, to show Jesus as GOD, in flesh, savior of the world. John also wrote the 3 epistles bearing his name, and he wrote these to the (Jewish) church. And the Doctrine contained is for the Church today. He also was used of God to author the REVELATION. I believe, to be a transitional book to be greatly used by the 144,000 during the GREAT TRIBULATION. And to give the Church a picture of the events to come. Judeis a brother of James (Jude 1:1) and thus the younger half brother of the Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 13:55). James not one of the twelve, but a pillar of the first church (Galatians 2:9) an Apostle, Elder according to (Acts 15:4,13) and most of all he is a younger half brother of the Lord Jesus according to (Matthew 13:55). Peter is a very transitional person. A Jew with strong Jewish belief’s. After the birth of the church, God has to drag Peter into dealing with the Gentiles. His epistles are to the Jewish church, including the gentile members, and the words are flavored with old testament wording. Paul, a Jew among Jews, uniquely called by God, an Apostle to go to the Gentiles to preach the Death, Burial and Resurrection of Christ.

A complete study of the scripture (Listed above) will show that true wisdom is given from God and that man’s wisdom is utter foolishness.
The story is very plain but let’s bring it down to a child’s level. God wants everyone to know His word but there was a time when His word was lost to His people.
An eight year old boy became King of His people. Some wicked men had killed his father and he became King of Israel. His name was Josiah. When he became King, his whole country was wicked and evil. They worshiped false gods of Baalim. God’s house, the Temple, was not used and nobody knew where God’s word (the Penatude, the Bible) was.
Josiah was different from his people. He believed in God. As he grew older he ordered his pe0ple to quit worshiping the false gods. He even ordered them to clean up and fix up God’s house, the Temple. The people were to bring in their offerings and the priests were to collect it and pay the men who fixed up the temple. As this was going on, HIL-KI-AH, a priest, found a book (the scrolls). It was God’s word. Hilkiah was very excited and took it to the king. The King became excited, now he could find out more about God. The King ordered the book to be read for all the people. The book told about God’s love, it told about God’s promise to his people, it told about the Law God had given them. It told about the punishments that would come if the people did not obey God’s word.
The King became very sad. He discovered just how evil the people had become and that for their sinfulness they would have to be punished. He became so sad he even tore his clothes.
King Josiah decided then to obey God’s word. Because of King Josiah’s decision, God sent a message to the King through a prophetess who said that ALL THE DAYS OF JOSIAH’S LIFE, God would withhold the punishments.
What a story. And you know when we obey God’s word He withholds the punishments that come with Sin. But to Obey God’s word we need to know it and the way we can know it is the same way Josiah came to know it.
