In Remembrance of Me -Part 2

Do you remember …. WAIT A MINUTE …… You weren’t there!
All this happened over 1900 years ago.
How could you remember? You hadn’t even been born.

Yes, you remember hearing stories about these things.
You remember a Preacher, Priest or someone preaching about these things.
You remember reading about these things. BUT you weren’t there.

Well, what meanest the Scripture “IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME”?
You truly are not eye witness’s of these events, you would be a fool to proclaim that you were.
So, what meanest the Scripture “IN REMEMBRANCE OF ME”?

Do you have a remembrance of the Lord Jesus?
Have you ever had contact with the Living Son of God?
If you are saved (believed 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, acted upon Romans 10:9) then you have a remembrance of the Lord Jesus.

You are a witness, not in his life and death, BUT in the NEW LIFE He is giving to YOU!

What is there to remember?
You were a sinner! Lost in a world of self-righteousness! Lost, separated from God!

It’s to remember that only by God’s grace, the love of Christ, that you’ve been made acceptable to God.

This is a remembrance you have of Christ, the remembrance you have of the time you believed, were saved, lifted out of the mire of sin, the sea of self-righteousness and placed in the heavenlies, the time when you passed from spiritual death and placed into spiritual life, life eternal, all because of the death, burial and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Psalm 22

A very graphic description of the Crucifixion (which did not come into being until the Romans ruled). (read about the crucifixion as recorded in the four Gospels).

My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
Words spoken by Christ as He hung on the cross. Mark 15:34
2-6 O my God, I cry in the day time, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent. But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel. Our fathers trusted in thee: they trusted, and thou didst deliver them. They cried unto thee, and were delivered: they trusted in thee, and were not confounded. But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people.
7-8 All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. Actions, works and words spoken by those around the cross as Christ was being crucified. Matthew 27:43
9-11 But thou art he that took me out of the womb: thou didst make me hope when I was upon my mother’s breasts. I was cast upon thee from the womb: thou art my God from my mother’s belly. Be not far from me; for trouble is near; for there is none to help. Sufferings of the Lord Jesus at His trial and crucifixion.
Matthew 27:27-42, Mark 15:16-28
12-17 Many bulls have compassed me: strong bulls of Bashan have beset me round. They gaped upon me with their mouths, as a ravening and a roaring lion. I am poured out like water, and all my bones are out of joint: my heart is like wax; it is melted in the midst of my bowels. My strength is dried up like a potsherd; and my tongue cleaveth to my jaws; and thou hast brought me into the dust of death. For dogs have compassed me: the assembly of the wicked have inclosed me: they pierced my hands and my feet. I may tell all my bones: they look and stare upon me.
18 They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture.
Prophecy-Fulfilled Matthew 27:35, Mark 15:24, John 19:23
19 But be not thou far from me, O LORD: O my strength, haste thee to help me.
20 Deliver my soul from the sword; my darling from the power of the dog.
21 Save me from the lion’s mouth: for thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns.
22 I will declare thy name unto my brethren: in the midst of the congregation will I praise thee.
23 Ye that fear the LORD, praise him; all ye the seed of Jacob, glorify him; and fear him, all ye the seed of Israel.
24 For he hath not despised nor abhorred the affliction of the afflicted; neither hath he hid his face from him; but when he cried unto him, he heard.
25 My praise shall be of thee in the great congregation: I will pay my vows before them that fear him.
26 The meek shall eat and be satisfied: they shall praise the LORD that seek him: your heart shall live for ever.
27 All the ends of the world shall remember and turn unto the LORD: and all the kindreds of the nations shall worship before thee.
28 For the kingdom is the LORD’s: and he is the governor among the nations.
29 All they that be fat upon earth shall eat and worship: all they that go down to the dust shall bow before him: and none can keep alive his own soul.
30 A seed shall serve him; it shall be accounted to the Lord for a generation.
31 They shall come, and shall declare his righteousness unto a people that shall be born, that he hath done this.

Psalm 16

Preserve me, O God: for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD, Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and to the excellent, in whom is all my delight. The Apostle Paul write his epistles to the SAINTS at ….
Romans 1:7, 1 Corinthians 1:2, 2 Corinthians 1:1, Ephesians 1:1,
Philippians 1:1, Colossians 1:2
4-9 Their sorrows shall be multiplied that hasten after another god: their drink offerings of blood will I not offer, nor take up their names into my lips. The LORD is the portion of mine inheritance and of my cup: thou maintainest my lot. The lines are fallen unto me in pleasant places; yea, I have a goodly heritage.
I will bless the LORD, who hath given me counsel: my reins also instruct me in the night seasons.
I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoiceth: my flesh also shall rest in hope.
10 For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
This verse speaks of Christ’s three days in the tomb, where he descended into hades and then rise gain three days later, and His body did not see corruption but was changed to a glorious one. Ephesians 4:9 (Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended first into the lower parts of the earth?Acts 2:31 He seeing this before spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in hell, neither his flesh did see corruption.Acts 13:35 Wherefore he saith also in another psalm, Thou shalt not suffer thine Holy One to see corruption.
11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. 1 Corinthians 2:9 …things which God hath prepared for them that love him. Philippians 1:23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)

Epaphras

EPAPHRAS means “loving.”

Epaphras is mentioned 3 times in the New Testament, in 2 epistles of the Apostle Paul; Colossians and Philemon.
Paul was in prison when he penned these Epistles and in Philemon he calls Epaphras “my fellow prisoner”. Did he mean Epaphras was in prison with him? Probably not. For he states “in Christ”. Paul considered himself to be a prisoner, a bond servant of Christ. It also appears Epaphras was “a minister to the Colossians”, he probably was the founder of the Colossian Church. It would also appear Philemon abode in Colossae.

Colossians 1:7-8 As ye also learned of Epaphras our dear fellowservant, who is for you a faithful minister of Christ; Who also declared unto us your love in the Spirit.

Colossians 4:12-13 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you, always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God. For I bear him record, that he hath a great zeal for you, and them that are in Laodicea, and them in Hierapolis.

Philemon 1:23 There salute thee Epaphras, my fellow prisoner in Christ Jesus;

Psalm 7

A Meditation of David, which he sang to the LORD concerning the words of Cush, a Benjamite.

When David was under attack from Cush the Benjamite, all he could trust was God.

O LORD my God, in thee do I put my trust: save me from all them that persecute me, and deliver me: Lest he tear my soul like a lion, rending it in pieces, while there is none to deliver. O LORD my God, If I have done this; if there be iniquity in my hands; If I have rewarded evil unto him that was at peace with me; (yea, I have delivered him that without cause is mine enemy:) Let the enemy persecute my soul, and take it; yea, let him tread down my life upon the earth, and lay mine honour in the dust. Selah. Arise, O LORD, in thine anger, lift up thyself because of the rage of mine enemies: and awake for me to the judgment that thou hast commanded. So shall the congregation of the people compass thee about: for their sakes therefore return thou on high. The LORD shall judge the people: judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to mine integrity that is in me. Oh let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end; but establish the just: for the righteous God trieth the hearts and reins.
1 Peter 4:18 IF THE RIGHTEOUS SCARCELY BE SAVED, WHERE SHALL THE UNGOLDLY AND THE SINNER APPEAR?

My defence is of God, which saveth the upright in heart. God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.
1 Samuel 16:7 But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

If he turn not, he will whet his sword; he hath bent his bow, and made it ready. He hath also prepared for him the instruments of death; he ordaineth his arrows against the persecutors. Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
Isaiah 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

He made a pit, and digged it, and is fallen into the ditch which he made. His mischief shall return upon his own head, and his violent dealing shall come down upon his own pate. I will praise the LORD according to his righteousness: and will sing praise to the name of the LORD most high.

Jochebed

Numbers 26:59 And the name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, whom her mother bare to Levi in Egypt: and she bare unto Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

She was a very brave woman expecting a baby, whom Pharaoh had ordered put to death (Exodus 1:22), she hid her pregnancy and bore a baby boy. She keep him for 3 months and then hid him in a basket placing him in the river trying to save his life.
(Hebrews 11:23 By faith Moses, when he was born, was hid three months of his parents, because they saw he was a proper child; and they were not afraid of the king’s commandment.)

This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is image-19.png

Read the story in Exodus 2:1-10. When Pharaoh’s daughter found the baby, she needed someone to nurse him. Jochebed got that honor, so she was able to raise her sone for 3-5 years. This allowed Moses to learn about his family, before he was returned to Pharaoh’s daughter and be raised as an Egyptian.

Psalm 6

David’s supposed intention was that it would be for anyone suffering from sickness or distress or for the state of the Kingdom of Israel while suffering through oppression.

O LORD, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure. Have mercy upon me, O LORD; for I am weak: O LORD, heal me; for my bones are vexed. My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O LORD, how long? Return, O LORD, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake. For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks? I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies. Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the LORD hath heard the voice of my weeping.
Matthew 7:23 And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.
Matthew 15:8 This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

The LORD hath heard my supplication; the LORD will receive my prayer. Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

Psalm 1

The Psalmist gives a clear distinction between the righteous and the wicked.

Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Proverbs 28:13 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.

The Lord Jesus said: Matthew 7:12 Therefore all things whatsoever ye would that men should do to you, do ye even so to them: for this is the law and the prophets.
The Apostle John writes: 3 John 1:2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
The above speak of while we are living, But, look again at verse 5
Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

Psalm 3

David, deserted by his subjects, derided by Shimei, pursued for his crown and life by his ungracious son, Absalom, turns to his God, makes his supplications, and confesses his faith.

Lord, how are they increased that trouble me! many are they that rise up against me. Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah. But thou, O LORD, art a shield for me; my glory, and the lifter up of mine head.
Matthew 27:40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
Matthew 27:42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
Mark 15:30 Save thyself, and come down from the cross.
I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah. I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me round about. Arise, O LORD; save me, O my God: for thou hast smitten all mine enemies upon the cheek bone; thou hast broken the teeth of the ungodly. Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

We are reminded God is always on His Throne:
Revelation 7:10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.
