Lord Jesus Christ

MATTHEW: There are 170 references to the name Jesus in Matthew.

From the Birth of the Lord Jesus until he began His ministry at age 30, I am sure many family and friends called him “Jesus”. After all that is the name, the Angels told Joseph and Mary to name him. Matthew 1:21,25. No where does Matthew record anyone directly addressing him just as Jesus. In fact, in
Matthew 8:29 Even the demons said “Jesus, Thou son of God”. And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
MARK: There are 93 references to the Name Jesus in Mark. Mark records 2 times that The Lord Jesus was spoken to directly using his name. The man with the unclean spirit Mark 1:24 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.
And even then, the unclean spirit recognized the Lord’s deity. Then again the wild man in Gadarenes possessed with an unclean spirit Mark 5:7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. And again, the unclean spirit recognized the Lord’s deity.
LUKE: There are 97 references to the Name Jesus. A short version of his early life recorded by Luke: And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man. Now when all the people were baptized, it came to pass, that Jesus also being baptized, and praying, the heaven was opened, And Jesus himself began to be about thirty years of age, being (as was supposed) the son of Joseph, which was the son of Heli.
Luke records 2 times the man with the unclean spirit ( see Mark 1:24) and the spirit of an unclean devil cried: Luke 4:34 Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God.
And even then, the unclean spirit recognized the Lord’s deity. Also the wild man in Gadarenes possessed with an unclean spirit. Luke 8:28 When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee, torment me not.
And again, the unclean spirit recognized the Lord’s deity.
JOHN: There are 245 references to the Name Jesus. There are 6 references where he is addressed as Jesus. Greeks (gentiles) wanted to see Jesus. John 12:21 The same came therefore to Philip, which was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus.
When Judas betrayed Jesus in the garden the Band of men: John 18:5 They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them. John 18:7 Then asked he them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
Pilate, when questioning Jesus. John 18:33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus, and said unto him, Art thou the King of the Jews?
John 19:9 And went again into the judgment hall, and saith unto Jesus, Whence art thou? But Jesus gave him no answer.
ACTS: There are 67 references to the Name Jesus.
Jesus of Nazareth, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, his Son Jesus, Jesus Christ, Lord Jesus, Lord Jesus Christ, Saviour Jesus
There are only 3 direct references to Jesus. All three are contained in Paul’s meeting with the Lord on the road to Damascus. In each case it is the Lord identifying himself to Saul (Paul).
Acts 9:5 And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks.
Paul rehearsing the event.
Acts 22:8 And I answered, Who art thou, Lord? And he said unto me, I am Jesus of Nazareth, whom thou persecutest.
Acts 26:15 And I said, Who art thou, Lord? And he said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest.

Kneel to Pray

Why do we kneel to pray?
Kneeling in prayer is an act of humility, reflecting obedience to what is best for us. Kneeling isn’t the easiest action.
It takes effort and requires a surrendering of our selves.
From the Psalmist:
Psalm 95:6 O come, let us worship and bow down: let us kneel before the LORD our maker.
Solomon worships the Lord God:
2 Chronicles 6:13 For Solomon had made a brasen scaffold of five cubits long, and five cubits broad, and three cubits high, and had set it in the midst of the court: and upon it he stood, and kneeled down upon his knees before all the congregation of Israel, and spread forth his hands toward heaven.
Elijah worships the Lord God:
1 Kings 15:42 So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his knees,
Ezra worships the Lord God:
Ezra 9:5 And at the evening sacrifice I arose up from my heaviness; and having rent my garment and my mantle, I fell upon my knees, and spread out my hands unto the LORD my God,
Daniel worships the Lord God:
Daniel 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime.
The Lord God instructed Isaiah:
Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.
The rich young man
Mark 10:17 And when he was gone forth into the way, there came one running, and kneeled to him, and asked him, Good Master, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?
The Lord Jesus set the example:
Luke 22:41 And he was withdrawn from them about a stone’s cast, and kneeled down, and prayed,
Stephen Prayed:
Acts 7:60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep.
Peter Prayed:
Acts 9:40 But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning him to the body said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up.
Paul Prays:
Acts 20:36 And when he had thus spoken, he kneeled down, and prayed with them all.
Acts 21:5 And when we had accomplished those days, we departed and went our way; and they all brought us on our way, with wives and children, till we were out of the city: and we kneeled down on the shore, and prayed.
Paul instructs Believers:
Philippians 2:9-11 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Paul quotes Isaiah 45:23:
Romans 14:10-11 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Is it necessary to always Kneel when we Pray?
Ephesians 6:18 Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;
Colossians 1:3 We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Colossians 1:12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
Hebrews 13:15 By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.
Is it necessary to always Kneel when we Pray?
When we can … YES!
But when we can’t, we need to Pray and Thank God always for all things!!
Remember, It’s not the position of the body … It’s the condition of the Heart!

Mystery Blindness of Israel

Romans 11:25 For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.
5 question we should answer

  1. What is meant by Blindness?
  2. When did Israel’s Blindness begin?
  3. Will it have a termination point?
  4. What does ‘in Part” mean?
  5. Why did God “Blind” His elect?
1.This Blindness is Spiritual, not physical. Read all of Romans 11
This blindness refers to the Nation of Israel not individual Jews.
    2. Israel has been blind since Mount Sinai.
Deuteronomy 9:13 Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:
Deuteronomy 29:4 Yet the LORD hath not given you an heart to perceive, and eyes to see, and ears to hear, unto this day.
Isaiah 6:9-10 And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not. Make the heart of this people fat, and make their ears heavy, and shut their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart, and convert, and be healed.
    3. This is the real part of the mystery … it shall end with the fullness of the Gentiles.
Romans 11:11 I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather through their fall salvation is come unto the Gentiles, for to provoke them to jealousy.
    4. God has always had a remnant. Romans 11:2-5
    5. They were blinded that the message of salvation could be given to the Gentiles. Romans 11:11-12
Remember when Abram was called by God. Genesis 12:1-3 Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee: And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing: And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

Are you a Christian

…is a person who follows or adheres to Christianity.

It appears 3 times in Scripture.
Acts 11:26 And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch. And it came to pass, that a whole year they assembled themselves with the church, and taught much people. And the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch.
Acts 26:28 Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Almost thou persuadest me to be a Christian.
1 Peter 4:16 Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf.

Acts 11:26 Refers to Jews who believed Christ Jesus was the Messiah.
Acts 26:28 Agrippa was a Jew who served as King under the Romans.
1 Peter 4:16 Peter is writing to Jews who believed Christ Jesus was the Messiah.

In each of these verses it’s the Jew who believe the Lord Jesus is their Messiah who is called Christian.
What did Paul call the Gentiles who believed in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord Jesus?

They are saved, and referred to as Believers, Saints.

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
Romans 1:7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints:
There are 45 more times they are called Saints.

Many who are not saved call themselves Christian.
I prefer to call myself a Believer (in the Death, Burial and Resurrection of the Lord) and Confess that He is God.
(the requirements for salvation. 1 Corinthians 15:1-4, Romans 10:9).

Daniel 7

FOUR BEASTS (This occurred BEFORE DANIEL 4)
7:1 In the first year of Belshazzar king of Babylon Daniel had a dream and visions of his head upon his bed: …
Compare Ezekiel 1:10-14 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. Thus were their faces: and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.
7:3 He dreams of 4 beasts …
Compare Revelation 13:1 And I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea, having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of blasphemy.
7:4 The first was like a lion, and had eagle’s wings:
7:5 A second, like to a bear,
7:6 Lo another, like a leopard,
7:7 A fourth beast, dreadful and terrible,
7:8-16 The description of the forth continues …
Compare Ezekiel 1:15 Now as I beheld the living creatures, behold one wheel upon the earth by the living creatures, with his four faces.
Compare Revelation 1:4 John to the seven churches which are in Asia: Grace be unto you, and peace, from him which is, and which was, and which is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;,

Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.
Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

7:17 These great beasts, which are four, are four kings, which shall arise out of the earth.
7:18 But the saints of the most High (the Jewish nation)
Compare Isaiah 60:12 For the nation and kingdom that will not serve thee shall perish; yea, those nations shall be utterly wasted.
7:19-21 the fourth beast, which was diverse from all the others,
7:22 Until the Ancient of days came, (Second coming of Christ)
Compare Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
7:23-25 TRIBULATION
Compare Revelation 17:12 And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as yet; but receive power as kings one hour with the beast.
7:26-27 The Millenium
7:28As for me Daniel, my cogitations much troubled me, and my countenance changed in me: but I kept the matter in my heart.

Parents Day

Made an American holiday in 1994, Congress unanimously passed the fourth Sunday of July as PARENTS DAY.
Matthew 15:1-9 Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition? For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death. But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me; And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition. Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying, This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me. But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.
DAD and MOM first… In 1979 the United Nations announced the International year of the Child.
Now don’t misunderstand. We are to love our children. We are to parent them, feed them, provide for and help them with their problems. And a firm believer of children’s rights: THEIR RIGHT TO OBEY THEIR PARENTS.
Every year we hear a lot about child abuse, and I believe all child abusers should be punished, to the full extent of the Law. But let’s define abuse:
In Sweden a parent cannot spank or even speak harshly to a child or they will suffer the consequences of going to jail.
In USA some parents are in jail, awaiting jail terms for correcting their child.
But what about Parents, what about the 5th Commandment,
Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother:
Family was (and s) God’s Idea, His plan for mankind.
It is not the result of evolution.
Ephesians 5:23 For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.
1 Corinthians 11:3 But I would have you know, that the head of every man is Christ; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.
FATHER, MOTHER, CHILDREN, FAMILY!!!
How does God view obeying parents?
Leviticus 19:3 Ye shall fear every man his mother, and his father, …: I am the LORD your God.
Deuteronomy 27:16 Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.
Colossians 3:20 Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

Young people … You want to please God? Obey your parents … Do what they ask.

You who no longer live under your parent’s roof … Respect your Parents…
Speak kindly to and about them… Forgive them …… You are not perfect either!!!

Daniel 6

THE LION’S DEN
6:1-3 DARIUS is king of Babylon, Daniel is No. 1 of three presidents;
6:4-9 DECREE that whosoever shall ask a petition of any God or man for thirty days, save of thee, O king, he shall be cast into the den of lions.
6:10-15 DETERMINATION Decree or not, Daniel continues to worship God. That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
Compare Jonah 2:1-4 Then Jonah prayed unto the LORD his God out of the fish’s belly, And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. For thou hadst cast me into the deep, in the midst of the seas; and the floods compassed me about: all thy billows and thy waves passed over me. Then I said, I am cast out of thy sight; yet I will look again toward thy holy temple.
6:16-18 DEN OF LIONS The punishment … Then the king commanded, and they brought Daniel, and cast him into the den of lions.
6:19-22 DELIVERENCE My God hath sent his angel, and hath shut the lions’ mouths, that they have not hurt me: forasmuch as before him innocency was found in me; and also before thee, O king, have I done no hurt.
REMEMBER Daniel 3, Shadrack, Meshack and Abenego – The Fiery Furnace?
Acts 2 Peter slept in Prison, lead out by an angel?
Acts 16 Paul and Barnabas sang in Prison?
Acts 27 Paul was calm in the Storm on the Ship?
Romans 8:31-33 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
6:23-28 DECREE The king was glad Daniel alive. The king punished the accusers.
Then he issued a nation wide decree.
Compare 1 Chronicles 5:20 And they were helped against them, and the Hagarites were delivered into their hand, and all that were with them: for they cried to God in the battle, and he was intreated of them; because they put their trust in him.
Compare Isaiah 26:3 Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.
