Rain Part 2

GOD’s PROMISE

The Lord Jesus refers to rain in His teachings: Matthew 5:45, 7:25,27
Barnabas and Paul reminded the Jews that rain comes from God: Acts 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
Paul rehearses God’s blessings: Hebrews 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
James reminds the Jews of Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.:
James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
James also reminds Jews of Elijah: James 5:17-18
And the two witnesses (during the Tribulation) will be like Elijah:
Revelation 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rain. Where did all the water come from for Noah’s flood?
Reading Genesis 1 we can see that water covered the whole earth. Vs 1
He divided the waters. Vs 6-9
It appears He took some of the water and placed it in the heaven, a canape surrounding the earth. This would be a shield for the earth. It made earth like a green house. It was this way from then until Noah. No Rain, Snow, or Hail. No lighting, thunder, or drought. Maybe a strong wind. A very pleasant place to live, and life abounded. And it also degenerated. When Noah was about 40 years old God said to him (6:3) “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years”. And He instructed him to build an Ark as God was going to send Rain to flood and destroy the inhabitants of earth.
When Noah was 600, 2 months, and 17 days old (7:11) it started to rain. Not only did the canape surrounding the earth fall, water from under the earth also rose up (7:11all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened).
The water covered the whole earth by 15 cubits ( if a cubit – 18” x 15 = 270 ft – If a cubit – 24” x 15 = 360’). After a year on the Ark, Noah climbed out the window on the top (8:13-18). Now where did all that water abate to? Well, some returned to the sky (not as the canape) but enough to provise rain as needed since then. And a lot of it went to the north and south pole (JOB 38:30). Not to worry, God promised never to flood the earth again. But will with Fire:
2 Peter 3:12-13 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Easter Part 2

Imagine the words of Peter on resurrection Day.

It’s been 3 days and nights since the Lord Jesus was crucified and put into the tomb. Peter has been in hiding when Mary comes to with news about the tomb.

Mary, Mary, what are you saying?
Mary, get a hold of yourself. You were at the tomb?
Now you say our Lord’s body is gone?
An Angel told you the Lord is going to see us in Galilee?
Mary, please get a hold of yourself … you must be mistaken … you probably went to the wrong tomb!
The Lord’s tomb is sealed. Pilate, himself sealed it and placed guards in front of it. Of course, that’s it, in the darkness you must have gone to the wrong tomb.

John surely you don’t believe her. Wait, John wait, where are you going?
Wait, wait for me.
(panting Peter follows after John, who arrives at the tomb first)
John, look, the stone … it’s been rolled away. Where are the guards?
Wait here. I’m going in.

John, look … He’s gone! Look here’s the linen cloth His body was wrapped in. An there the napkin that was wound about His head. Look at it. Just as someone very carefully unwound it and laid it apart from the rest. What does this mean?
(Later, upon returning to the others)
Brethren … Brethren …. Please be quite, please! Let me speak
I’ll be the first to admit … I’m at a lost to explain all that’s happened …. But it can be explained …
Let’s try to remember all the Lord taught us … put it all together and I’m sure we will understand.

You all know, how on the night Judas betrayed our Lord and He was arrested, I also betrayed Him. Oh, yes it’s true Judas sold Him out for 30 pieces of silver, but I, yes I, did much worse… I deigned Him.
I said I never knew Him. I will never forget the look in His eyes as I swore and cursed … deigning I knew Him… Three times …three times before the cock crowed! I would give my life to live those moments over, to change them …. To proudly proclaim … He’s my Lord. HE’S MY LORD … But it’s too late.
(a week passes, the eleven are gathered in the upper room)

Just 7 days ago, The Lord entered Jerusalem and was hailed as King. Then, betrayed, crucified, and buried. Then, 3 days after He was buried, some women, along with Joann, Salome, Mary, (James’ Mother), and Mary Magdalene go to the tomb, only to find it empty. When they reported back to us, John and I raced to the tomb, supposing they were mistaken .. but IT WAS EMPTY, and we returned here.
(a week passes, the eleven are gathered in the upper room)

What are we going to do? Others have reported seeing the Lord. First, Mary Magdalene says she spoke with Him at the tomb. He told her He was to ascend to the Father (in Heaven). He then appeared to the two on the road to Emmaus … They returned here that very evening to tell us how He opened the Scripture to them and as He was breaking bread with them for the evening meal, He showed them that He was the Lord.

Brethren, as we are gathered here in the upper room, ye look to me for an explanation …. But I have none … It’s impossible. Brethren I – – – –
WHAT’S WRONG? – What is it? — You act like you see a Ghost —
My LORD and GOD — It is you ….

It is Appointed

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: Hebrews 9:27

Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Romans 5:12

Adam disobeyed God (Sin) Genesis 3

Able was the first to die. (sin) Genesis 4

All mankind has died except two. Enos (Genesis 5) and Elijah (1 Samuel)

Some believe the two witnesses (Revelation 11) will be Enos and Elijah thus fulfilling Hebrews 9:27.

Only one man (the Lord Jesus) has died and then was raised from the dead with a new body. Victory over death. 1 Corinthians 15.

Yes, our end is physical death except for a group who should not die: A mystery the Apostle Paul explains. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

This event could occur today: Are you ready? Are you part of this group?

The Wise Man Matthew 7:25,27
And showed His power over the winds (He is God):
Matthew 8:26-27, Mark 4:37,39,41, 6:48,51, Luke 8:23-25, John 6:18
Teaching about John the Baptist: Mathew 11:7, Luke 7:24

The Wind is used symbolically for the disciples as they are filled with the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:2
The wind caused Paul’s ship wreck: Acts 27:4,7,13-15
The wind caused the ship to sail: Acts 27:40, 28:13

Paul’s illustration: Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

James also uses wind to teach:
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
And in James 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
And in Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
And John writing about the Tribulation:
Revelation 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Yes, much can be learned by reading about the Wind in Scripture.

Day Month Year

Days of the week are not named in Scripture.

The term “day” came from the Old English term dæg, which means day or lifetime. The days of the week in the Roman calendar were Sun’s day, Moon’s day, Mars’ day, Mercury’s day, Jupiter’s day, Venus’s day and Saturn’s day. The days were not named after the gods, the days were named after the celestial bodies, which in some cases were named after gods and a goddess.

Sunday is referenced in John 20 as the 1st day of the week
Saturday is referred to as the Sabbath, Mark 16. 125 times in scripture.
Exodus 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
It’s the 7th day of the week, as our calendars depict it.
Genesis 2:2-3 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Our current Months are not named in scripture. Jewish months are.

Julius Caesar’s astronomers explained the need for 12 months in a year and the addition of a leap year to synchronize with the seasons. … These months were both given 31 days to reflect their importance, having been named after Roman leaders. Why 12 months – 12 moon cycles in a year (moon-month).

The earth takes 365 days, 5 hours, 59 minutes and 16 seconds to circle the sun – 1 solar year. 365.242 days. It is called a year.

Apostles Doctrine

The Lord Jesus preached about the Gospel of the Kingdom of God, a Kingdom on Earth, where He would be King and rule with them.

When He ascended into Heaven, He told them until He returned, they were to continue with this same message (Acts 1:7-8)
Acts 1:2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

Acts 2:42 And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.
Acts 4:33 And with great power gave the apostles witness of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.
2 Peter 3:2 That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us the apostles of the Lord and Saviour:

WHO preached what gospel?
Acts 8:25 And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
Acts 14:7 And there they preached the gospel.
Acts 14:21 And when they had preached the gospel to that city, and had taught many, they returned again to Lystra, and to Iconium, and Antioch,
Acts 15:7 And when there had been much disputing, Peter rose up, and said unto them, Men and brethren, ye know how that a good while ago God made choice among us, that the Gentiles by my mouth should hear the word of the gospel, and believe.

What is the Gospel and Why Does Mankind Need the Gospel?

The Apostle Paul
Acts 16:10 And after he had seen the vision, immediately we endeavoured to go into Macedonia, assuredly gathering that the Lord had called us for to preach the gospel unto them.
Acts 20:24 But none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry, which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.
