Luke Quotes

Luke, the doctor, traveling companion of Paul wrote this Gospel around 60 AD. He was a Greek and the only Gentile Christian writer of the New Testament. The language of Luke reveals that he is an educated man. We learn in Colossians 4:14 that he is a physician. In this book Luke refers many times to sicknesses and diagnoses. Being a Greek and a doctor would explain his scientific and orderly approach to the book, giving great attention to detail in his accounts as he investigates the life and ministry of Jesus. Luke 1:1-4 gives the reason for his writing. He quotes from the scripture, Exodus, Leviticus, Isaiah, and Psalm, to help validate the life and ministry of Jesus. Listed are the direct quotes (not including what Jesus quoted) found in the Book of Luke.
