James, Peter, John, and Jude were considered unlearned and ignorant
(Acts 4:13). They were never the less used by God (Holy Spirit) to preach, Quoting the Old Testament Scripture (Acts 1,2,3) and to write epistles to the Jewish Assemblies, again quoting O.T. scriptures and alluding to its teachings. Also relying on many teachings of the Lord from the OT as they walked with Him over 3 years.James was a practicing Jew and knew Scripture.
James wrote to the twelve tribes (Jews) scattered abroad (1:1). This
James is not the Apostle (there are two James’ listed as Apostles in Matt 10:2-4) but was the half brother of Jesus (Galatians 1:19, Mark 3:6) who became a leader (Acts 15:13) in the Jerusalem Church after the resurrection of Christ.
