In studying the BUT GOD’s found in the scripture, the next mention(s) is in:
Exodus 13:18 But God led the people about, through the way of the wilderness of the Red sea: and the children of Israel went up harnessed out of the land of Egypt.
Israel under the leadership of Moses has left Egypt. They are on their way to the promised land. The land promised to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. And the way they should go is through the land of the Philistines. However, this would have meant war and would have discouraged the Israelites who would have returned to Egypt. So, God intervened. Exodus 21:13 And if a man lie not in wait, but God deliver him into his hand; then I will appoint thee a place whither he shall flee.
Part of the LAW dealing with a man smiting another.
⇛ BUT GOD – SAMSON
Another mention is in: Judges 15:19 But God clave an hollow place that was in the jaw, and there came water thereout; and when he had drunk, his spirit came again, and he revived: wherefore he called the name thereof Enhakkore, which is in Lehi unto this day.
Samson had just slain 1,000 men with the jaw of an ass and he thought he would die of thirst BUT GOD provided him with water.
⇛ BUT GOD – David
Another mention is in: 1 Samuel 23:14 And David abode in the wilderness in strong holds, and remained in a mountain in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
King Saul, jealous of David, sought to kill him. BUT GOD had other plans for David as he was to be the next King of Israel.
1 Chronicles 28:3 But God said unto me, Thou shalt not build an house for my name, because thou hast been a man of war, and hast shed blood.
King David wanted to build the Temple. But God had other plans. King Solomon would build the Temple.
Proverbs 14:12 There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
Proverbs 16:25 There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.
