1 Corinthians 12:12-27 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many. …
Paul mentions the BODY 15 times in the above text! What is the Body?
1 Corinthians 12:27 explains “Now ye are the body of Christ,…”
Romans 7:4 “…ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ;”
Romans 12:5 “So we, being many, are one body in Christ,…”
1 Corinthians 10:16 “…is it not the communion of the body of Christ?”
Ephesians 3:6 “That the Gentiles should be fellowheirs, and of the same body”
Ephesians 4:12 “…for the edifying of the body of Christ:”
Ephesians 5:23 “…Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”
Colossians 2:17 “…Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”
A study of the above verses (and putting them back into their context) show that believers (Romans 10:9-13) are placed into a group, called the BODY OF CHRIST, the true Church.
Nowhere else in scripture is the BODY of Christ, the Church, mentioned. Not in the Old Testament. Not in the four Gospels. Not in Hebrews, James, John, Jude, Peter or Revelation.
Only in the Epistles written by Paul, to the Churches that he founded, is the Body of Christ mentioned.
