Idols

An image used as an object of worship. A false god. One that is adored.

The best definition of an Idol is found it the Second Commandment:
Exodus 20:4 Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
And yet today, how many religions today have images (idols) of things;
that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
They have these images in their churches, homes and even in their automobiles. And how many people pray to these idols as mediators to God? Yet Paul writes: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 1 Timothy 2:5
And Paul expounds on this Mediator in Hebrews:
Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.
Hebrews 9:15 And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.
Hebrews 12:24 And to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel.
When we pray, we pray to God, by the power of the Holy Spirit, Lord Jesus.
1 Corinthians 5:4 In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit, with the power of our Lord Jesus Christ,
1 Corinthians 6:11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.
Ephesians 5:20 Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ;
Colossians 3:17 And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
