Day 2

Did God take a 12-hour break?

Genesis 1:6-8 And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.

The firmament is put into the waters, with water under and above it and then He calls it Heaven. It appears the earth is surrounded by water with a canopy of water above, surrounding it, protecting the earth.
And so, Day 2 ends.

In the Bible, the firmament refers to the celestial arch or vault that separates the earthly realm from the waters above, as described in the Genesis creation narrative. It is often understood as a solid expanse or dome created by God to divide the waters and is associated with the sky or heavens.
The “firmament” (from the Latin firmamentum, meaning “sky” or “expanse”) is mentioned 17 times in the King James Version of the Bible and refers to the expanse of the heavens above the earth.
