Weather

Weather appears in Scripture 4 times.

Everybody talks about it but there’s nothing we can do about it.
It affects everyone, causing many changes in our plans.
Job 37:22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: …
Proverbs 25:20 As he that taketh away a garment in cold weather, …
And the lord Jesus uses it to teach:
Matthew 16:2-3 He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?
Today we say “Red in the morning is a warning, Red at night is a delight”.

Weather involves Seasons, Winter, Summer, Wind, Storm, Rain, Flood, Snow, Hail, Drought, Clouds and all of these appear in the Scripture, where we can learn spiritual lessons. From Adam until Noah there was NO RAIN …
Genesis 2:5 And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
There was WEATHER! There was Day and Night. Perhaps there would have been wind (to help scatter the seed of the plants). There were Seasons, as plants grow, produce fruit and seed to continue the cycle. But NO Rain, Snow, Hail, Clouds. The Earth was protected by a water canapé. Genesis 1:6-10

Taxes

HAVE YOU PAID YOUR TAXES?

It’s been said, “Everyone must do two things, pay taxes and die”.
Every year we must give an account of our last years earnings, and pay tribute (taxes) to the government.
Filing date is usually April 15th. Have you filed for this year? Have you claimed all your earnings?

A TAX assessor came one day to a pastor to ascertain the amount of taxes he would have to pay. The following conversation took place:
“What property do you possess?” asked the tax man.
“I am a very wealthy man” replied the pastor.
“List your possessions, please” instructed the tax man.
“First, I have everlasting Life”. Romans 6:22
“Second, I have a mansion in Heaven”. John 14:2
“Third, I have peace that passeth understanding”. Philippians 4:7
“Forth, I have joy unspeakable”. Romans 14:17
“Fifth, I have divine love which never faileth”. 1 Corinthians 13:8
“Sixth, I have a faithful wife”. Proverbs 13:10
“Seventh, I have healthy, happy children”. Exodus 20:12
“Eighth, I have true, loyal friends”. Proverbs 18:24
“Ninth, I have songs in the night”. Psalm 42:8
The Tax collector raised his hand, closed his book and said, “Truly you are a very rich man, but your property is not subject to taxation.”

MATTHEW 17:24-27 And when they were come to Capernaum, they that received tribute money came to Peter, and said, Doth not your master pay tribute? He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers? Peter saith unto him, Of strangers. Jesus saith unto him, Then are the children free. Notwithstanding, lest we should offend them, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up; and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find a piece of money: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

Time

Revelation 10:6 And sware by him that liveth for ever and ever, who created heaven, and the things that therein are, and the earth, and the things that therein are, and the sea, and the things which are therein, that there should be time no longer:

How important is Time? Think about it, TIME governs our lives. It’s time to begin … It’s time to get up! It’s time to eat Breakfast! It’s time to go to school/work! It’s time for lunch! It’s time to go home! It’s time to eat supper! It’s time to study/play/watch TV! It’s time to go to bed! And it begins again the next day. How often during the day to you look at your watch or a clock? Time controls our every MINUTE.

Did you read the verse in Revelation 10:6? TIME NO LONGER! That day is coming, the Lord promises it. BUT until then we need to manage our time wisely. Some things we really need to take time for:

⇛ Time Part 2 -TIME FOR SALVATION
⇛ Time Part 3 -TIME TO STUDY GOD’S WORD
⇛ Time Part 4 -TIME TO PRAY
⇛ Time Part 5 -TIME TO WORSHIP
⇛ Time Part 6 -TIME TO WITNESS
⇛ Time Part 7 -TIME FOR THE LORD JESUS TO COME AGAIN

Your TIME is up……

Flood Part 2

Floods continue even today, But they are local!

And the Lord Jesus commented on the state of life before the Flood:
Matthew 24:38-39 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.
And in a parable: Luke 6:48 He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock.
Peter recounts Noah’s Flood: 2 Peter 2:5 And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;
Symbolic during Tribulation: Revelation 12:15-16 And the serpent cast out of his mouth water as a flood after the woman, that he might cause her to be carried away of the flood. And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
Remember the promise of God:
Genesis 8:21-22 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done. While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease.
Yes, there are floods, and they do cause much damage (and perhaps they are warnings and/or judgements from God. BUT the whole earth will never be flooded again. The next punishment world wide will be FIRE.
2 Peter 3:10-12 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Cloud Part 4

Clouds will play a big part in the future:
Revelation 1:7 Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.
Revelation 10:1 And I saw another mighty angel come down from heaven, clothed with a cloud: and a rainbow was upon his head, and his face was as it were the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire:
Revelation 11:12 And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them.
Revelation 14:14-16 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle. And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe. And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped.
Clouds, in summary:
It would appear that clouds did not exist prior to Noah’s Flood. The earth was protected (from outer space, meteors, rays, etc.) by a water canape. There was no need for clouds. When the flood occurred and this canape was dumped on the earth, clouds were created by God. As recorded in scripture, God has used the clouds for many purposes: Curses, Punishments, Blessings and as Signs.

Rain Part 2

GOD’s PROMISE

The Lord Jesus refers to rain in His teachings: Matthew 5:45, 7:25,27
Barnabas and Paul reminded the Jews that rain comes from God: Acts 14:17 Nevertheless he left not himself without witness, in that he did good, and gave us rain from heaven, and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness.
Paul rehearses God’s blessings: Hebrews 6:7 For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
James reminds the Jews of Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the LORD your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.:
James 5:7 Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rain.
James also reminds Jews of Elijah: James 5:17-18
And the two witnesses (during the Tribulation) will be like Elijah:
Revelation 11:6 These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will.
Rain. Where did all the water come from for Noah’s flood?
Reading Genesis 1 we can see that water covered the whole earth. Vs 1
He divided the waters. Vs 6-9
It appears He took some of the water and placed it in the heaven, a canape surrounding the earth. This would be a shield for the earth. It made earth like a green house. It was this way from then until Noah. No Rain, Snow, or Hail. No lighting, thunder, or drought. Maybe a strong wind. A very pleasant place to live, and life abounded. And it also degenerated. When Noah was about 40 years old God said to him (6:3) “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years”. And He instructed him to build an Ark as God was going to send Rain to flood and destroy the inhabitants of earth.
When Noah was 600, 2 months, and 17 days old (7:11) it started to rain. Not only did the canape surrounding the earth fall, water from under the earth also rose up (7:11all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened).
The water covered the whole earth by 15 cubits ( if a cubit – 18” x 15 = 270 ft – If a cubit – 24” x 15 = 360’). After a year on the Ark, Noah climbed out the window on the top (8:13-18). Now where did all that water abate to? Well, some returned to the sky (not as the canape) but enough to provise rain as needed since then. And a lot of it went to the north and south pole (JOB 38:30). Not to worry, God promised never to flood the earth again. But will with Fire:
2 Peter 3:12-13 Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

Wind Part 2

The Lord Jesus used the wind(s) in His parables:
The Wise Man Matthew 7:25,27
And showed His power over the winds (He is God):
Matthew 8:26-27, Mark 4:37,39,41, 6:48,51, Luke 8:23-25, John 6:18
Teaching about John the Baptist: Mathew 11:7, Luke 7:24
Peter’s experience: Matthew 14:24,30,32
When the Lord teaches about end times: Matthew 24:31, Mark 13:27, Luke 12:55
Teaching Nicodemus about being Born Again: John 3:8
The Wind is used symbolically for the disciples as they are filled with the Holy Spirit: Acts 2:2
The wind caused Paul’s ship wreck: Acts 27:4,7,13-15
The wind caused the ship to sail: Acts 27:40, 28:13

Paul’s illustration: Ephesians 4:14 That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive;

James also uses wind to teach:
James 1:6 But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed.
And in James 3:4 Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
And in Jude 1:12 These are spots in your feasts of charity, when they feast with you, feeding themselves without fear: clouds they are without water, carried about of winds; trees whose fruit withereth, without fruit, twice dead, plucked up by the roots;
And John writing about the Tribulation:
Revelation 6:13 And the stars of heaven fell unto the earth, even as a fig tree casteth her untimely figs, when she is shaken of a mighty wind.
Revelation 7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.

Yes, much can be learned by reading about the Wind in Scripture.
