Christians believe that bay symbolizes the resurrection of Christ. Bay leaves are a symbol of prosperity, honor and fame. Its leaves constituted the wreaths of laurel that crowned victorious athletes in ancient Greece.
A Bay can grow into a tree up to 40 to 50 feet tall. Thus the reference:

Though the forbidden fruit in the Book of Genesis is not identified, popular Christian tradition holds that Adam and Eve ate an apple from the forbidden tree in the Garden of Eden (Adam’s Apple, the lump in mans throat). As a result, the apple became a symbol for knowledge, immortality, temptation, the fall of man and sin.

The almond is a well-known symbol of resurrection because it is the first tree to flower.

Almonds are the edible seeds of Prunus dulcis, more commonly called the almond tree. They are native to the Middle East. Almonds are one of the world’s most nutritious and versatile nuts, renowned for their many health benefits and culinary uses.

The wood was evidently very precious and apparently came from East Asia. Tradition says that this was the famous sandal wood.

It’s interesting that Swine, Boar and Sow are mentioned in Scripture, but not pig.
Swine is found in Proverbs 11:22, Isaiah 65:4, 66:3,17 Matthew 7:6, 8:3-32 Mark 5:11-16 Luke 8:32-33, 15:15-16. Boar is found in Psalm 80:13.
Sow (a female pig) is mentioned by Peter. He quotes a Proverb (26:11) and then seems to add to it.
2 Peter 2:22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.
Proverbs 26:11As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
