Buckler

A buckler is a small, round shield, worn on the forearm or held by a handle.
God protected Israel:

1 Chronicles 5:18 The sons of Reuben, and the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh, of valiant men, men able to bear buckler and sword, and to shoot with bow, and skilful in war, were four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore, that went out to the war.
1 Chronicles 12:8 And of the Gadites there separated themselves unto David into the hold to the wilderness men of might, and men of war fit for the battle, that could handle shield and buckler, whose faces were like the faces of lions, and were as swift as the roes upon the mountains;
2 Chronicles 23:9 Moreover Jehoiada the priest delivered to the captains of hundreds spears, and bucklers, and shields, that had been king David’s, which were in the house of God.
Job rebukes his friends:
Job 15:26 He runneth upon him, even on his neck, upon the thick bosses of his bucklers:
The Psalmist writes, God is our protector:
Psalm 18:2 The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower.
Psalm 18:30 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all those that trust in him.
Psalm 35:2 Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
Psalm 91:4 He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Again God is the protector:
Proverbs 2:7 He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
Song of Solomon 4:4 Thy neck is like the tower of David builded for an armoury, whereon there hang a thousand bucklers, all shields of mighty men.
Jeremiah 46:3 Order ye the buckler and shield, and draw near to battle.
Ezekiel 23:24 And they shall come against thee with chariots, wagons, and wheels, and with an assembly of people, which shall set against thee buckler and shield and helmet round about: and I will set judgment before them, and they shall judge thee according to their judgments.
Ezekiel 26:8 He shall slay with the sword thy daughters in the field: and he shall make a fort against thee, and cast a mount against thee, and lift up the buckler against thee.
Ezekiel 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothed with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords:
Ezekiel 39:9 And they that dwell in the cities of Israel shall go forth, and shall set on fire and burn the weapons, both the shields and the bucklers, the bows and the arrows, and the handstaves, and the spears, and they shall burn them with fire seven years:

Reveal

verb – 1. make (previously unknown or secret information) known to others.

It became Paul’s calling to go to the gentiles and reveal these mysteries, the first being that salvation was now open to gentiles, who were to become the church (along with Jews who believed that Jesus was their Messiah), the body of Christ.

Romans 1:17-18 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith. For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
1 Corinthians 2:10 But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1 Corinthians 3:13 Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.
1 Corinthians 14:30 If any thing be revealed to another that sitteth by, let the first hold his peace.
Galatians 1:16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:
Galatians 3:23 But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Ephesians 3:5 Which in other ages was not made known unto the sons of men, as it is now revealed unto his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit;
Philippians 3:15 Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.
2 Thessalonians 1:7 And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,
2 Thessalonians 2:3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
2 Thessalonians 2:6 And now ye know what withholdeth that he might be revealed in his time.
2 Thessalonians 2:8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:

CURSE

There are two definitions for the word CURSE:
Noun – a solemn utterance intended to invoke a supernatural power to inflict harm or punishment on someone or something. And – an offensive word or phrase used to express anger or annoyance.
Verb – invoke or use a curse against. And – utter offensive words in anger or annoyance.

Matthew 5:44 But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;
Matthew 15:4, Mark 7:10 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.
Matthew 25:41 Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:
Matthew 26:74, Mark 14:71 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
Mark 11:21 And Peter calling to remembrance saith unto him, Master, behold, the fig tree which thou cursedst is withered away.
Luke 6:28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
John 7:49 But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.
Acts 23:12 And when it was day, certain of the Jews banded together, and bound themselves under a curse, saying that they would neither eat nor drink till they had killed Paul.
Acts 23:14 And they came to the chief priests and elders, and said, We have bound ourselves under a great curse, that we will eat nothing until we have slain Paul.
Romans 12:14 Bless them which persecute you: bless, and curse not.
Galatians 3:10 For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
James 3:9 Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God.
2 Peter 2:14 Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:
Revelation 22:3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
In the text above it would appear to CURSE something was to mean harm to it.

As a believer, we should be very careful when we CURSE something or someone.

SWEAR

-an offensive word, used especially as an expression of anger.

Matthew 5:34 But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne:
Matthew 5:36 Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.
Matthew 23:16 Woe unto you, ye blind guides, which say, Whosoever shall swear by the temple, it is nothing; but whosoever shall swear by the gold of the temple, he is a debtor!
Matthew 23:18 And, Whosoever shall swear by the altar, it is nothing; but whosoever sweareth by the gift that is upon it, he is guilty.
Matthew 23:20-22 Whoso therefore shall swear by the altar, sweareth by it, and by all things thereon. And whoso shall swear by the temple, sweareth by it, and by him that dwelleth therein. And he that shall swear by heaven, sweareth by the throne of God, and by him that sitteth thereon.

Matthew 26:74, Mark 14:71 Then began he to curse and to swear, saying, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew.
Hebrews 6:13 For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself,
Hebrews 6:16 For men verily swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife.
James 5:12 But above all things, my brethren, swear not, neither by heaven, neither by the earth, neither by any other oath: but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay; lest ye fall into condemnation.

By the use of SWEAR in the above texts, it would appear that to swear by something, was a stronger commitment than just to take an oath.

Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.

But Now… Part 2

Paul writes to the Believers in the Galatian Church not to return to the law:
Galatians 4:9 But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God,
In his letter to the church in Ephesus he reminded them of our position with the Lord after we are saved:
Ephesians 2:13 But now in Christ Jesus ye who sometimes were far off are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
Ephesians 5:8 For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
Paul wrote to Philippi that even though he was not with them they should continue to serve the Lord:
Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation …
And to the church in Colossian he reminded them of his teaching about the MYSTRIES that had been revealed to them and also to be aware of what they were before salvation.
Colossians 1:26 Even the mystery which hath been hid from ages and from generations, but now is made manifest to his saints:
Colossians 3:8 But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
When Timothy came to Paul and informed him of how well they were doing he told they how he wanted to come and see them.
1 Thessalonians 3:6 But now when Timotheus came from you unto us, and …
To Philemon he pleaded for a runaway slave as Paul returned him.
Philemon 1:11 Which in time past was to thee unprofitable, but now profitable…
To the believing Jews who were still caught up in the temple worship and trying to follow the LAW he wrote:
Hebrews 2:8 Thou hast put all things in subjection under his feet. For in that he put all in subjection under him, he left nothing that is not put under him. But now we see not yet all things put under him.
Hebrews 8:6 But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, …
Hebrews 9:26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin …
He reminds the Jews of God’s promises to their fathers, a better land.
Hebrews 11:16 But now they desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God: for he hath prepared for them a city.
Hebrews 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven.

BUT NOW as we study and learn the word of God we need to be sharing it with our unsaved friends before its too late.

Circumcision or Uncircumcision

The KEY verse is really 1 Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing, and uncircumcision is nothing, but the keeping of the commandments of God.

The Covenant God made with Abraham concerning all his male descendants

A physical ritual given to Abraham to pass on to all his male descendants.
Acts 7:8 And He (GOD) gave him (ABRAHAM) the covenant of circumcision: and so Abraham begat Isaac, and circumcised him the eighth day; and Isaac begat Jacob; and Jacob begat the twelve patriarchs.
Scripture to study:
In Scripture, Circumcision always referred to the Jew:
John 7:22-23
Acts 7:8 Acts 10:45 Acts 11:2
Romans 2:25-29 Romans 3:1 Romans 3:30 Romans 4:9-12 Romans 15:8
1 Corinthians 7:19
Galatians 2:8-9 Galatians 2:12 Galatians 5:6 Galatians 5:11 Galatians 6:15
Ephesians 2:11
Philippians 3:3
Colossians 2:11 Colossians 3:11 Colossians 4:11
Titus 1:10

In Scripture, uncircumcision referred to the Gentile or those that were cut off from God:
Romans 2:25-27 Romans 3:30 Romans 4;9-10
1 Corinthians 7:19
Galatians 2:7 Galatians 5:6 Galatians 6:15
Ephesians 2:11
Colossians 2:13 Colossians 3:11

Barbarian or Scythian

Colossians 3:11 Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Barbarian (in ancient times) a member of a community or tribe not belonging to one of the great civilizations (Greek, Roman, Christian).  An insulting word for a person from an uncivilized culture or a person with no manners.

Scythian also called Scyth, Saka, and Sacae, member of a nomadic people, originally of Iranian stock, known from as early as the 9th century bce who migrated westward from Central Asia to southern Russia and Ukraine in the 8th and 7th centuries bce.

Both need to believe in Christ, His death, burial and resurrection.

Believer or Unbeliever

1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

1 Corinthians 6:6 But brother goeth to law with brother, and that before the unbelievers.

1 Corinthians 7:14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy.

2 Corinthians 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?

The Believer professes that the Lord Jesus died on the cross, was buried in a tomb and rose again after 3 days and 3 nights (1 Corinthians 15:1-4) and confesses HE is God (Romans 10:9).

An unbeliever denies this event happened.
