Begotten

Psalm 2 is a prophetic Psalm and it speaks of the time when God will set up Christ as King, Ruler of all the earth. But the question is when did Christ become the BEGOTTEN Son?

⭆ Read Psalm Chapter 2. Look at verse seven again:
Psalm 2:7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee.
Many teach that when Christ (Lord Jesus) was born in Bethlehem, that then He was the begotten son of God.
But what saith the Scripture? Psalm 2:7 says Christ is the Begotten Son of God.
Paul writing to the Hebrews (Jews) quotes this verse twice.
Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?
Hebrews 5:5 So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.
John states that the Word (Lord Jesus) is the only Begotten son of God and that He has always been from the beginning.
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him.
John quotes the Lord Jesus proclaiming Himself to be the only Begotten Son.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Again in his first letter to the Jews, John wrote:
1 John 4:9 In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.
Paul, preaching to the Jews in Antioch in Pisidia quoted the Psalm:
Acts 13:33 God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.
The question remains, When did the Lord Jesus become the begotten son of God? Look again what Paul says in Acts 13:33 that he hath raised up Jesus again; Now read the next verse:
Acts 13:34 And as concerning that he raised him up from the dead, now no more to return to corruption, he said on this wise, I will give you the sure mercies of David.
Paul affirms this when he writes to believers at Rome:
Romans 1:3-4 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
Then look at Revelation 1:5: And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
It appears that Christ became the only begotten Son of God, NOT at His birth, BUT at His RESURRECTION!
Now because of His resurrection and our belief in the death, burial and resurrection of Christ, we too are begotten of Him, Children of God! Both Jew and Gentile.

1 Corinthians 4:15 For though ye have ten thousand instructers in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 John 5:1 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
1 John 5:18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
