Joy

Jesus Others and You

Joy is: Being in God’s will
Being Faithful
Being a fruitful Branch
Being a Soul Winner

Fullness of Joy Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore.

Shall reap in Joy Psalm 126:5-6 They that sow in tears shall reap in joy. He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

The Lord Jesus used Parables to teach about Joy:
Enter into the Joy of the Lord Matthew 25:21,23 His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord…. His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.

He spoke to His Apostles where their joy would come from:
Joy may be full John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.

The Lord Jesus warned His Apostles sorrow was coming BUT it would be turned into Joy:
Sorrow shall be turned to Joy John 16:19-22 Now Jesus knew that they were desirous to ask him, and said unto them, Do ye enquire among yourselves of that I said, A little while, and ye shall not see me: and again, a little while, and ye shall see me? Verily, verily, I say unto you, That ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. A woman when she is in travail hath sorrow, because her hour is come: but as soon as she is delivered of the child, she remembereth no more the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. And ye now therefore have sorrow: but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no man taketh from you.
And it still applies today. When we believe in the death, burial and resurrection (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), and confess that Jesus is God (Romans 10:9) sorrow is lifted. And each time we feel low, sorrow, all we need to is take it to Him in Prayer in faith, trusting is Him. As Paul wrote:
1 Timothy 2:1-5 I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Followers and Patterns

Followers of GOD
Many a new believer asks “How do I do the work of God?”

Ephesians 5:1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children;

Followers of Paul

Paul wrote to the Corinthians
1 Corinthians 4:16 Wherefore I beseech you, be ye followers of me.
1 Corinthians 11:1 Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.
To the Galatians who wanted to back to following the LAW.
Galatians 4:12 Brethren, I beseech you, be as I am; for I am as ye are: ye have not injured me at all.
Also to the Philippians he wrote:
Philippians 3:17 Brethren, be followers together of me, and mark them which walk so as ye have us for an ensample.
Philippians 4:9 Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Paul sets the example:
2 Timothy 3:10 But thou hast fully known my doctrine, manner of life, purpose, faith, longsuffering, charity, patience,
Paul is the example believers are to follow:
2 Thessalonians 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.

Believers are to be Patterns

Titus 2:7 In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no man despise thy youth; but be thou an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.
1 Thessalonians 1:7 So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia.
1 Timothy 1:16 Howbeit for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me first Jesus Christ might shew forth all longsuffering, for a pattern to them which should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

The apostle Peter wrote to his fellow believing Jews:
1 Peter 5:3 Neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but being examples to the flock.

Quoting the Scripture 2

Whether it is quoted from memory, or read from the scripture always QUOTE the Word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

These are words written by the Apostle Paul to his spiritual son, Timothy. When he wrote “All Scripture” he is referring to what we know as the Old Testament. The New testament has NOT been written yet. Many today ignore the Old Testament but not the writers of the New Testament. They referred to the OT often and many times quoted it. For example, Acts referrers to and quotes the OT some 88 times. The Apostle Paul, in his epistles continually cites the Old testament. The Lord Jesus quoted the Old testament over 70 times in his teachings. In the Gospels, Matthew 14, Mark 19, Luke 19, John 12. James has over 30. Peter over 40. John’s epistles over 15. Jude 7 times. And John in the Revelation over 80. There’s an old saying “Hidden in the old, revealed in the new”. In each of the following postings it will be attempted to show the reference in the Old testament quoted by the New Testament writer.

Writing to the Corinthian believers, Paul reminds them, as they are going through temptation to remember the Scripture (old Testament):
1 Corinthians 10:11 Now all these things happened unto them for examples: and they are written for our admonition, upon whom the ends of the world are come.

Yes, the Old testament has many truths for believers today. And many prophecies yet to be filled when the Body of Christ, the church, is raptured out of this world.

As written in Psalm 12:6-7 The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.

Just how important is the word of God? To quote the Lord Jesus Matthew 24:35, Mark 13:31, Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.

And He quoted scripture many times.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Deuteronomy 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Always answer with Scripture. Whether it is quoted from memory, or read from the scripture always QUOTE the Word of God.

Sparrow

6 times in Scripture 2 times in Old Testament 4 times in New Testament

A sparrow is a small brown bird. Sparrows live near humans and have a pretty, musical song. They come in many varieties

Psalm 84:3 Yea, the sparrow hath found an house, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may lay her young, even thine altars, O LORD of hosts, my King, and my God.

Psalm 102:7 I watch, and am as a sparrow alone upon the house top.

The Lord Jesus used the common sparrow to show how much He loves and cares for humans:
Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.
Luke also records the words of the Lord Jesus:
Luke 12:6-7 Are not five sparrows sold for two farthings, and not one of them is forgotten before God? But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows.

How important is man to God? He came and died for our sin!

Dove

18 Bible references 14 Old Testament 4 New Testament

The mourning dove is named for is haunting and sad cooing sound. Its call is sometimes mistaken for the call of an owl. When the mourning doves flies, its wings make a whistling sound. The Dove family contains 344 species divided into 49 genera. The first mention of a Dove is in Genesis 8:8-12 when Noah sent forth a Dove from the Ark to see if there was any dry ground.

Psalm 55:6 And I said, Oh that I had wings like a dove! for then would I fly away, and be at rest.
Psalm 68:13 Though ye have lien among the pots, yet shall ye be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.

King Solomon refers to one of his lovers as my Dove.
Song of Solomon 2:14 O my dove, that art in the clefts of the rock…
Song of Solomon 5:2 I sleep, but … saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: …
Song of Solomon 6:9 My dove, my undefiled is but one; …

Isaiah 38:14 Like a crane or a swallow, so did I chatter: I did mourn as a dove: mine eyes fail with looking upward: O LORD, I am oppressed; undertake for me.
Jeremiah 48:28 O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock, and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the hole’s mouth.
Hosea 7:11 Ephraim also is like a silly dove without heart: they call to Egypt, they go to Assyria.
Hosea 11:11 They shall tremble as a bird out of Egypt, and as a dove out of the land of Assyria: and I will place them in their houses, saith the LORD.

All of the gospel writers record the baptism of the Lord Jesus and compare the Holy Spirit descending upon Him as or “like a Dove”.
Matthew 3:16, (Mark 1:10, Luke 3:22, John 1:32) And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:
Mark 1:10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him:
Luke 3:22 And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily shape like a dove upon him, and a voice came from heaven, which said, Thou art my beloved Son; in thee I am well pleased.
John 1:32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

It’s interesting that Holy Spirit was like a dove that descended on the Lord Jesus (peace?) and in Acts 2:1-4 the Holy Spirit was given to the disciples in the form of “cloven tongues like as of fire” (power to witness).

Dragon

34 Bible references 22 Old Testament 12 New Testament (revelation)

It is taught that the dragon is “a mythical monster like a giant reptile”. But a study of Scripture reveals a different picture. When the Bible was written (and then translated) the word DINOSAUR did not exist. In 1842, paleontologist Richard Owen coined the term dinosaur, dino (Greek deinos meaning “terrible” or “fearfully great,”) and sauros, meaning “lizard” or reptile.”

34 times the Dragon(s) is spoke about in the Old Testament. Were these writers all wrong?

Dragons are recorded in Deuteronomy 32:33 Their wine is the poison of dragons, and the cruel venom of asps.
Also in Nehemiah 2:13, Job 30:29, Psalm 44:19, 74:13, 91:13, 148:7.

They are mentioned along with owls, beast of the field, asses, Are these animals also a myth? Isaiah 13:22, 27:1, 34:13, 35:7, 43:20, 51:9.

Jeremiah 10:22, Behold, the noise of the bruit is come, and a great commotion out of the north country, to make the cities of Judah desolate, and a den of dragons.
And he continues Jeremiah 14:6, 49:33, 51:34,37.

And in Ezekiel 29:3, Micah 1:8, and Malachi 1:3. Do you suppose the translators of the Bible would have used the word “Dinosaur” if it was available to them?

Twelve (12) times in the book of Revelation the word Dragon appears.
In each case it is referring to SATAN.
Revelation 12:3-4 And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads. And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth: and the dragon stood before the woman which was ready to be delivered, for to devour her child as soon as it was born.
Revelation 12:7 And there was war in heaven: Michael and his angels fought against the dragon; and the dragon fought and his angels,
Revelation 12:9 And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
Revelation 12:13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man child.
Revelation 12:16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth. And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.
Revelation 13:2 And the beast which I saw was like unto a leopard, and his feet were as the feet of a bear, and his mouth as the mouth of a lion: and the dragon gave him his power, and his seat, and great authority.
Revelation 13:4 And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?
Revelation 13:11 And I beheld another beast coming up out of the earth; and he had two horns like a lamb, and he spake as a dragon.
Revelation 16:13 And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.
Revelation 20:2 And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,
