He should have gone off to war.
He should not have watched his neighbor’s wife bathe.
He should not have summoned her to his residence.
He should not have had an adulterous affair with her
When she was found with child David called her husband back from the war.
When David’s plan failed, He ordered him back to battle with instructions for him to be left at the front and killed. David brought Bathsheba to the castle to be one of his wives. A child was born but later died. David was called out by Nathan and repented. Meanwhile, Absalom, one of David’s sons, gathered together an army and chased David from the castle. Ahithophel became Absalom’s counsellor and wanted to take men and go kill David. When Absalom said no, Ahithophel returned to his home and hanged himself.
